Hello, I am starving too. I had my surgery oct 15th and I am so hungry.

Only thing I do is eat sugar free Jello, chicken noodle Soup with out the noodles, vegetable sop no meat, and drink Water and Protein shakes.

My family still has to eat so it is so tempting to eat. I know how you feel so tried all soft food, baby food like apple sauce, that's all I could do.

But I hear it will get better I hope so for our sake.

Good Luck

Yah you are NOT starving. It is probably head hunger. 85% of your stomach has been removed and this includes the part that would normally make you hungry. So have your liquids but do other things to occupy yourself, this surgery is life changing, you are a very different person inside.

I know it feels like you are starving - but this is the time to learn that what your brain says isn't always true. You have 1/4 of a tummy now. Hunger is different now. For you it may be more intense - so I trust that it feels like you are starving - but - if you are drinking what your doctor told you to and following he weekly plan, you are fine. This is not a walk in the park. This is a new chance at life. Turn off the TV and any food commercials. Focus on telling yourself why you did this. Pray. Get your mind off food and hunger and worry. Be patient. You can do this. Popsickles are great. Lite pudding. Lite yogurt. Water with flavoring. Napping. Car rides. Etc. You won't die from the sensation of being hungry - head hunger or real hunger - you can make it through. You deserve this!!!! You can do it!!!!

I felt like I was starving too but around day 10 my new tummy started filling up easily, it was when I started soft foods! Your not crazy I promise. I thought the surgery didnt work at all because I was so insanely hungry. Take note of you mensteral cycle, it definitely increases the appetite. That was what happened to me, Hang in there!!!

I was sleeved on the 15th, too, and have struggled with the same feelings this weekend. I know it's not "real" hunger bc once I distract myself (reading, movie, go outside, call a friend), it goes away, but MAN they're powerful feelings!

I had a little crying tantrum today bc I felt so hungry! My husband was so sweet and encouraging and kept reminding me that this next few weeks is the worst and it'll get better.

I'm so glad we all have each other! Can you imagine doing this alone?!?! :o

I used to fast quite a bit, up to 7 days on just Water. The hunger was intense the first few days but I can tell you that most of it was head hunger. Water drinking helped a lot with the physical part. That was long before I had surgery.

Of course, I was distracted by prayer and Bible study which was why I was on the fast to begin with, to concentrate on God. I can tell you, distractions are your friend in the battle against hunger.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
