Energy Has Dropped Out

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

I'm pretty new here, only posted a few times but I've been reading a lot. I had my sleeve done on 28th August, and everything has gone well, except that about 2-3 weeks ago my energy levels just dropped out and have not

bounced back. I thought it was a hormonal/time of the month issue but I'm still so drained.

I'm not sleeping well at night, despite being tired and feeling sleepy, and between the lack of decent sleep and the tiredness, I'm feeling really low.

I'm getting plenty of Water, eating well and taking my multis. Any suggestions on what might be causing this feeling and how to overcome it?

I am having the same problem and talked to my doctor on Friday. He told me I need to get in more carbs. I am pretty active raising goats. He told me to increase my complex carbs and calories. That are bodies are machines and that we need these things for our "machines" to run. I am eating about 500 calories a day and this is not enough to sustain any energy. I also increased my Vitamin B. Vitamin B is Water soluble so you will pee out any excess. I need to get it up to where my urine gets real yello then back off a bit. To sleep, I take 1/2 a sleeping pill about once a week just so I can sleep. Part of it is now that I don't hurt as bad I want to do things...well into the night..:) I just started all this on today so I don't know what will work but I do know that I have felt better today eating more complex carbs. I feel like I have a bit more energy...fluke?? Don't know, but I like it!

I would double up on Vitamins, take in AM and at PM, eat a little more....... I agree with Staisea. I have been very tired and I started exercising even though I think I am going to pass out from tiredness,. Its helping some.

I've been having the same issue for the last several months (I'm eight months post-op). My blood tests are all fine, and I'm drinking, so my NUT told me that it's most likely a result of the rapid weight loss (I did lose pretty fast but now it's slowed down a lot) - that that's a real trauma for the body and it needs time to recover. Not what I wanted to hear, but hopefully that means that eventually I will bounce back. Unlike some WLS patients, I never had energy problems pre-op, so it's really hard to deal with this issue now that I'm so much thinner and should be brimming with energy.

My two biggest contributors to feeling tired has been poor hydration and lack of physical activity. If I stay on top of those two, I feel great.

I recently read an article about one of the biggest mistakes low carbers make is not getting enough complex carbs especially when exercising as much as we are. The article suggested adding Beans to lunch & dinner. Just a thought. Sorry didn't save the article. My energy is not quite where I wish it could be. I may try adding a serving a day maybe as a snack and see how that works.

All I do is sleep 12 to 16 hours a day. Maybe more when my husband is out of town. I have no energy. I was sleeved 12-30-14 but had so many complications that I spent about a month and 1/2 in the hospital. My doc says my Protein is way low but I'm not hungry and that I just need to eat anyways. It makes me sad that I have no energy for my hubs or my grand babies. All I wanna do is sleep. Any suggestions??

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
