Hello Everyone! Newbie Here

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I've just finished all my prerequisites for my VSG and am so excited for my surgery in December. Hope to find some friends that are going through the same journey I am that I can share victories with as well as vent when needed. I wish everyone the best of luck in their journey and can't wait to start posting my own victories soon.

Welcome! I'm 3 weeks and 1 day out from surgery. It's an adjustment, but we can do this.

Thank you. I've done so much research on the different WLS and have spoken to and read so many blogs, I know what I'm getting into and I'm ready for it. Good luck to you as well!

It's a work-in-progress, a journey to a new way of life. I am willing to go to the classes, read the books, talk to people who have had it done. The whole nine yards. I am not expecting things to happen overnight. Took me years to get where I am right now and its going to take time to lose all the weight, bad habits and wrong way of thinking. But I look forward to a brighter future, healthier lifestyle and living longer, so its well worth the process!

Welcome, and all the best on your journey. Keep the faith, it does get better. I am 5 months out lost 56 lbs and 19 lbs away from being in ONEderland. I can't stress it enough it does get better make sure you pay attention to your body telling you that your full. Keep in mind it will be a food funeral every time you sit down to eat BUT it is all worth it because we have to take ourselves back to the basics and reteach ourselves how to eat Portion Control and the 30 minute rule. No drinking 30 minutes before or after. You will feel angry at times but it just your bodies defence mechanism kicking in because mentally it thinks you need more food when you don't. That's why we are over weight in the first place. Some days are easier then others but you will get all the information and support from this forum.

Take care and all the best.

Mommydearest74, your right about its going to take a lot of changing and going back to basics. I found out the hardway this week, had some cocktails and ended up gaining 3lbs. I haven't had my surgery yet and have to get to 270lbs by January 8th. That's when they will give me my surgery date. Wish me luck! Everyone here is awesome in their own way, thank you all!

Ah I know it is a learning experience. As long as you learn too listen to your body talking to you after your surgery and know when your really hungry or when your mind is taking control. Make sure you listen to your body and know this its ok to only have 400 calories a day you will get threw this and become a loser sorta speak. Lol and you will have stalls but its all part of it. Make sure when your well start an excersise program even if its just 15 min at first then up it every week by 10min and you'll get there. Hope all the best. I'm here and if you'd like to add me I'm on my fitness pal same name as here.

Have a great night

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
