Just Want To Say "thank You"

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I just want to take a moment to thank ALL of you who take the time to post in here and give your experiences, positive and negative, and your feedback on surgery in Mexico.

Brief history; Insurance denied several times. I have no medical comorbidities and I would literally need to EAT my way into the surgery to gain 11 lbs, and it would still ALL need to be done by the end of the year (including all of the surgery). Truly impossible. I have jumped through hoops for several months to attempt to get the VSG.

A couple of weeks ago I just, by chance, entered "gastric sleeve self-pay" in to the search engine and this forum popped up. At the time, I had NEVER even considered going to Mexico to get it done. I have done nothing but lurk, read, read, lurk, research, research, and then research and read some more. You guys are a wealth of information!!!

As of Thursday, I am booked for surgery and headed to Mexico for my surgery date of Jan. 11, 2013. (I am only waiting until then to get me through my busy time of year - self-employed)

Thanks again!!

Wow, I am so excited for you. I had about the same experience...never really heard of having the surgery in Mexico until I stumbled on this site. I was denied by insurance, too...after I lost 20 lbs. for the doctor (required) and they said I didn't weigh enough. I had tried to explain this to the doctor, but they don't really listen. Anyway, sleeved 9/15 and down 28 lbs. so far. It was the best decision I ever made and well worth the money. Best wishes on your journey. I'm sure you think that January can't come soon enough, but it will! :)

I went to MX and have not been sorry. My surgeon was wonderful, I had great care and I healed extremely well! Good luck to you!

I went to Mexico on 9-14-12 too and I would do it again. I truly had better care there than when I've been in the hospital in the US. I am a nurse and was paying attention to details... they did an excellent job!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
