Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!

Had my surgery Oct 15 and i must admit it wasa big rollercoaster feeling good and bad. Was not expecting that much pain and nausea.Luckily as the day moved on, I felt much better. Day two I was unable to keep anything down so they kept me another night. Day three was much better and Iwas able to keep everything down, but apparently didn't take in enough liquids so I got to stay a third night. Finally home now so I am hoping I can actually get some rest. I shiver everytime I think of that horrible gastrograffin. Sorry I am jumping all over the place. So far the difficult thing about being home is watching everyone else eat. Looking forward to eating and being 100%

Day 10, first day without significant belly pain. Tolerating fluids but sick of chicken Soup since other fluids hurt my sleeve. Looking forward to moving to full if this stuffy feeling ever goes away. Why is up with that. Preop weight 235, today 216.

Hi guys, been kind of quiet. Things are ok. Started mushies this week. First time I ate too fast, had awful belly pain,, so it is a learning curve, eating slow, tiny bites, chew, chew chew. I was pretty upset, I was stalled a week out for 8 days. scale went down 2 pounds today. Down 13 pounds since 10/3. Seems a lot slower than others...yeah, I l know, we all lose at our own pace...but still, I wish it would be more. Anyways, congrats to all my octosleevers!!! I am proud of all of us.

Got sleeved oct 15th doing pretty good.. I notice each day that goes by Its becoming a lot easier to move around.. Besides my tummy being sore I haven't experienced any real pain. I haven't been hungry much only been drinking crystal lights and Jello I'm up to about two Jello and two bottle waters a day.. My surgeon called me this morning (love him) and ask how I was doing and how I was feeling and told me to start taking Protein again tommorow.. Last but not lease passing gas a lot but still no bm.. Is this normal?

I was about 4 or 5 days after surgery before that end of me started working again. Once it does, every 2 or 3 days is normal to start with, apparently.

Glad you're starting to feel better. I found it easier to sit with the family whilst they ate rather than hear them from the other room as it also encouraged me to get more of my liquid meal down but as the days go by it's getting harder. Resisting the urge to lick their food. Haha. My dad ate a packet of my favourite crisps/potato chips yesterday and that was my hardest moment so far. I think the mental food stuff is really kicking in now. I'm looking forward to eating again too!

Two weeks out, down 18lbs today. Started my soft foods/solids Tuesday. Felt my first sense of restriction today, I had deli turkey and cheese. Boy oh boy what a feeling. My sleeve is working in overdrive today!!

Two weeks seems really early to be starting solids. Are you finding it difficult so soon? I guess each surgeon has their own guidelines for us to follow. Mine says 2 weeks liquids, 2 weeks pureed, 2 weeks soft food and then solids after 6 weeks.

They also say if you're finding it difficult, go back a step for a little while longer.

I just wanted to throw this out there for any Brits on the forum. I was looking for Protein drinks that aren't shakes because I can't do milk at the moment. A few people on the forum had mentioned Isopure Plus but I couldn't find it anywhere in the UK. However' date=' in Asda I just found Promax, a high Protein Drink. It's like a lemon and lime squash drink but with 23grams of Protein in it. They were pretty pricey at £2.80 each but I found some on Amazon. I've just bought 2 different flavours of 8x330mls for £2.77 each. (That's £2.77 for 8 bottles instead of £2.80 for one!) Total cost with p&p was £7.51.

I hope no-one thinks this is advertising cos that's not my intention. I just want to share what I found. It's a lot harder to find good, affordable and suitable stuff for sleevers here in the UK than it is in America <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />[/quote']

I found my Isopure on amazon. You should also see if Lucky vitamin.com ships to UK. I'm not a big fan of the isopure but it has 40 gm of Protein.< /p>

NDN I totally understand how u feel. I was stalled at 247.4 for 3 days! I upped my Water and upped my Protein yesterday. This morning I gained a pound and was 248.4. I realized that weighing everyday I'm driving myself crazy!! It's such a catch22. I feel like its the first month and I wanna keep myself in check so I should weigh myself everyday. But I also realized that I am so hard on myself. For god sakes I just had a major surgery and my body is so confused. I have made a vow to ONLY weigh every Friday....going to

Have to hide my scale :-/

I am in the same boat. Down 17 lbs since surgery 10/3. But nothing in 3 days. I've vowed to put my scale away and only weigh on Fridays as well. Think we can do it? It's frustrating. I'm so worried that its not going to work for me and I won't make it to my goal weight.

Actually its soft food/solids, I can have eggs, steamed fish, mashed potatoes, crackers, toast, deli meat, low fat cheese. Not difficult at all, just thought after two weeks of full liquids my sleeve was probably too big. Then I moved to the next phase and now I can feel it working.

Every surgeon is very different and Im happy mine doesnt do puree!!

Was sleeved Oct.1st and I have to admit, I am not feeling too good. I had more energy the week after surgery. I hate the Protein Shakes, I am not thirsty, I am not hungry, I am just tired. I have lost 13 lbs, but that was in the first 2 weeks after surgery. I called the doctor and they told me I have to make myself drink my Protein shakes and Water. Not sure what to do.

Today I'm feeling pretty good. My NUT called me a couple of days ago to tell me that the only Vitamin that I was low on was Vit D (sunlight). I have to admit that I'm a home body and that's probably my problem. Well for the past 2 days I've been sitting in the sun for about 20 mins a day and I'm feeling great. My energy level has picked up and I'm not feeling so down. next week I start my outdoor walking routine. I have a treadmill in my garage but that becomes boring. I can't wait to get the all clear from my surgeon and then I plan on going to the gym to lift weights. I've been eating soft foods and some regular foods, the only thing that doesn't agree with my sleeve is grapes. My restriction is definitely there and I still have to drink at least 1 Protein Shake a day to meet my 60g Protein per day requirement. My clothes are getting loose but I have no idea how much I've lost but I should know next week because I meet with my surgeon :)

My goals are to get more sunlight and to become a gym rat again :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
