Anyone had an adult umbilical hernia?

Recommended Posts

What were the symptoms?

Did it hurt?

Did you actually see a bulge?

Do you think lots of jogging and a recent pregnancy could bring it on?

Getting to the doc today to see what my problem is if I can but just wondering.

My hubby has what his doctor has called an umbilical hernia. He's had it all his life. It basically means his navel is a little odd-looking, with a bulge on one side. It's not big and he doesn't feel it at all.

Though this obviously wasn't his problem, I imagine pregnancy is one of the primary causes of this situation. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about!

I had one that started giving me problems a couple of years ago. It felt like I had been punched in the stomach all the time. Not sure if pregnancy will aggravate it but I'm sure my big fat gut attributed to it getting worse.

I finally had surgery on it in Feb of 05 and haven't had any problems since.

I had one about 10 years ago...it looked like the little "knot" that's your belly button is coming undone. I had it repaired and was awake during surgery...walked to and from the operating room...not a big deal. It was pretty uncomfortable for a couple of days afterward, though.

I had one from birth. The doc apparently snipped my cord a bit short. I wore a quarter over my bellybutton early in my life. Once, 18 months after the birth of my first child, it became infected and hurt quite a lot inside. I took antibiotics and it cleared up. Never any other issues, but my doc did repair it while we did my second banding surgery. He did it laporoscopically and the area was super bruised and rather painful. Moreso than the lapband site. I guess it's fixed. Still looks the same from the outside to me.. lol. Good luck!

I had one repaired about a year ago. It bulges and I would get a nasty painful cramping in my stomache, it did hurt. I had two pregnacies one was a twin birth and I carried most my weight on the belly. After it was fixed it was ok. I wonder what its like now after all the weight loss?? any pressure there bothered it to , I was also the one to diagnose it cause of my pain symptoms, I looked it up online.

I'm bumping this old post up because I think I may have this. I have a lump that moves near my belly button. I have been thinking it was gas, but now I think it may be a hernia. Sometimes when I press on it, it disappears and hurts a little bit. It comes and goes. I have it right now. I'm afraid to press on it for fear of rupturing something.

Geez, what else! I hope this isn't directly related to the lap band, maybe my band is too tight causing pressure. I pressed on the lump before and it moved to the left and disappeared. Now it's back again. Comes and goes all day. I guess I should stop pressing on it. I have an appt. with my dr. on June 4th.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
