When I read interesting posts from interesting people, I always like to know more about them....so I go to the profile and it's amazing how often (I would say 8 or 9 times out of 10) that people here have not completed their profile or added photos....not trying to be nosy, but this is interesting stuff and I feel like we are a hui (group) of people with common interests, challenges and questions. This forum has helped me beyond my expectations (I was sleeved in Germany and have been living in Hawaii.....so not exactly convenient), plus I never had a nutritionist. So I come here for lots of information. Have 'friended' many but it's just nice to know where people started and see a photo. So just my little request....that and also, be sure you have your SIGNATURES turned on (if you are not seeing my signature and link to my blog below then that means you aren't seeing anyone's signature or ticker tapes....I had mine off unknowingly for a long time). Go to your name/settings/NewsFeed and check the box towards the bottom that says Display Signature Changes.

I love this community and just want to know more about people!

I've filled out my profile, but I haven't done "My story" yet. I wanted to wait until after my surgery.

I feel the exact same way!!! I love to know more about everyone! I always like to see where people are from and what their interests are.... and pictures! Who doesn't love progress pictures??? I plan to post progress pictures because I know how much it means to the pre-surgery ( like me) or freshly sleeved ( who may be going through a rough period and needs to see the "golden ring")....

I think a lot of folks use mobile apps, it's harder to look at and change profiles

Yes when I come on my phone if I look at someone's profile all you see is how long they have been a member, the amount of post they have, view their threads or post, and adding and private messaging, you can not view any of the information that is shown on the web based profiles.

Go to your Profile and edit it. You will just have to play around with it to find everything.

I've been meaning to update mine, thanks for the reminder!

There are really no profiles when using the phone app, which is how I access 99% of the time.

I will update mine maybe over the weekend when I have more energy. Right now I feel just about ready to pass out in bed =) I have not posted pictures yet, and I doubt I will until I'm quite a bit further along. I don't have any real before pictures, just a progress picture a few weeks out. Anyway, I'll get it together and post some pics eventually when I'm down over 50 probably.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a way to post any pictures to my profile using my iPad or iPhone, & I'm too lazy to boot up my Mac.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
