Last Minute Change To The Sleeve

Recommended Posts

I went in for my PreOp appt today to go over the details for my upcoming LabBand surgery on 9/21 and I came out of the office getting the Sleeve. I was provided with a ton of information to read but after listening to the pros/cons, I decided to make the change. Wish me luck!

Welcome. I first wanted the sleeve because of the fact its done, no band to fill. Then bcbs didn't pay so I was desperate so I was settling for the band. In the process bcbs changed and approved the sleeve. I call my Dr and changed that minute. I have heard so many horror stories about the band but like I said I was desperate. I'm so Glad bcbs changed.

I started out wanting the lap band but as time went on i started leaning toward the sleeve. At my last nut visit I let her know I wanted the sleeve. It's a done deal ins approved and surgery on 9/25. Good luck!!

I got ya all beat LOL I went into the operating room for bypass surgery and woke up with a sleeve!

Turns out my liver was still a tad large, so my Doc's first option was to cut me wide open and perform the bypass like that. But upon inspecting my insides with their handy dandy little camera, they discovered that I had a large amount of scar tissue and mesh in my abdomen from a hernia I had repaired 5 years ago. So opening me up was no longer an option, and he decided rather then not doing anything he would do the sleeve instead.

I'm actually really glad he decided to do the sleeve instead of the bypass. Now I don't have a lifetime on mal absorption problems and B12 shots to worry about.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
