It happened to me today sliming then i threw up after almost 4 wks out. I was stuck first eating fish I guess I didn't chew enough or I was eating too fast I can tell you I don't want that to happen ever again.

@ljparez: yup, slimes are caused mostly by solid foods because liquids can just pass through. I never get them with liquids or even shakes. Usually i start getting the hiccups and i feel food in my throat. Then i am off to the sink to spit it out. Sometimes it leads to food coming up, but rarely. Usually it is my fault due to fast eating or a couple bites too much. It is usually over in 10-20 seconds(the amount of time to get to the bathroom and spit). Good luck.

With me it has lasted longer at times. I too believe its from too dry foods, not chewed enough, etc. Once I tried to wash it down but that's like flushing a clogged toilet. Dont recommend it

Sliming is not the same as throwing up. No food comes up. Sliming is basically a lot a saliva in your mouth.

My first slime was at 4 weeks. Think i was a little too comfy with my new sleeve. For me, it happens when i eat too fast, "bad habit" Sometimes, I can walk it off, but usually it means a trip to the bathroom to get it out. GROSS!

When It happens to me I have to go throw up in a hurry. I know this is gross but the 1st thing out is so much mucus that encases the bite of food that put me over my limit. It's no wonder it makes me sick because there is so much of it.

I have a retry sturdy sleeve but I have slimed a couple times. Both times involved eating really dense Protein. Once chicken, once pork. Papaya enzyme makes it go away more quickly. I carry a pill in my pocket anytime I eat out. It is not a problem if I skip that last bite.

Happened to me today for the first time! I was eating leftover (microwaved) chicken fajita strips, so they were tougher than the first go-around and was feeling uncomfortable--ate too much (though wasn't much) or too fast and my mouth started watering like I'd vomit...went to the sink and heaved and up came this big slimy blob---then some (all?) of the chicken I'd had. Gross as it sounds--I ate strips and looked like cream-of-chicken is what came back out--so seemed to be well chewed..lol. The coming back up didn't hurt really, but felt LOADS better afterwards. Now sipping some warm tea (since Water doesn't work for me yet) and hoping to comfort my sleeve a bit. Guess I'll take it easy tonight with something soft and shakes to get my Protein in.

The only other time I've vomited since being sleeved was in the hospital with the blue (acid) drink.

13 days post op and for the past two days experiencing this. Thanks for posting. I just figured that I have to eat slower and if I even have a hunch that a bite my brig it over the top I try to stop, however havent perfected it in 24 hours. So throwing up is the next best thing or walking it off.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
