October 2006 Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Well were all tryin, hell, even in these winter blues. It's eanough to drag any one down... But just remember Spring is just around the corner. I'll tell you what! Just that thought alone is eanough for me to help "a little" to get over these Michigan Winter Blahs. I got a house up north and I can't waite to get to it. By the time my knee heels, I should be travling up.

Were a great bunch. So hang in there. Shirley...[/quote

Shirley, I am from Michigan too! By Grand Rapids, Where are you from? Maybe we go to the same Dr.? Mary

Chrispy and bckeye1 I hope you guys feel better! Winter sucks.

Hi Angie! Most of us were banded in oct 05, but you are most welcome to join us. The more the merrier.

I have a new bad habit to disclose: I have been eating cookie dough every night for three days!! Not a lot, but it's not a good thing. Ugh...

I am on the chocolate, just as bad! Why do we do that to ourselfs? At night I just can't seem to be good. My hubby works 3rd shift and he sleeps from 6-10 at night so I am alone. But I know chocolate and sweets are not going to keep me company, so why do I do it??????????

Welcome Angie, wow you have lost alot of weight, tell us one of your secrets that has made you so sucessful.

I have been sick too with the broncitics, also when I got sick after my lapband in October they did a cat scan and they said I had a enlarged ovary so I had to have a ultra sound of it and now to the ob-gyn, to find out what they are going to do, the nurse said ppy take it out with surgery. Not again! I hope not, but what ever it takes.

Wish me luck. Mary

Well, I just came back from Atlantic City this weekend and gained 1.5 pounds...all from drinking too much alcohol. But the good news is today is Wednesday and I lost three pounds since Sunday so I am back down. I've been working my ass at the gym and really strict with my eating. I did my first spin class at the gym today and made it through!!!! I'm finally on the up swing of my journey. Three more pounds till I hit Onerville.

Oh, I still have a ways to go! I still weigh about 240. My Doc's goal is 208.5 for me.(70% of excess weight) However I would like to be at 197. That would make my BMI so low I wouldn't qualify for surgery. (even with co morbids) But I weighed more than 200 in the 6th grade so I can not quite immagine being less than that! I am glad to have stumbled upon this group. Seems you all are very supportive. I love getting the emails that there is another post!

I'm from Saint Clair Shores, Michigan., and I go to Henry Fordc Clinic to see Dr. Jeffrey Genaw. I'm down from 214 to 210 so that' 11 lbs to my Valentines goal. No fill though, he say's after I have my knee done. So we are talking the end of April. That seems a long way off, because it is. Shirley....

Jdru - thanks for confessing the cookie dough! I have had girl scout Cookies for the past 3 nights!! I must have ordered those pre-lap band! Does anyone have more difficulty eating in the car? I have had 2 really bad pb's and they have both happened while driving. I am done with car dining! Everyone is doing so great! I need to get busy exercising. Even though I have 6cc in my 4cc band, I still feel like I am eating too much sometimes. Sonia 2 miles in 30 min is awesome - great work! Shirley I will be thinking of you with your upcoming knee surgery - let us know how that goes. Take care! Kim

I'm struggling a bit on the challenge...I'm still right around 193 this week. I need to focus more and write everything down that I eat. And throw away the cookie dough!! I'm not sure I'll make the challenge...but I will sure try!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
