Not as successful as I thought

I agree that you might need an additional tiny unfill. The tiniest increments sometimes make a HUGE difference. When I was first working with restriction/fills at 1. ccs I could eat anything and everything with no problem. Was filled to 1.5 and struggled for 3 weeks, basically ending up on protien drinks and soups....and lost maybe 2 lbs the entire time. Was unfilled to 1.3 and it was perfect! I was able to eat filet, ribeye, roast, all my veggies, etc again with no problem and the weight started coming off again.

Another helpful tip, many bandsters find that drinking something warm before eating helps relax the esophogus and stoma and makes it easier to get solids down issue free. I know it worked for me. I also have a "when in doubt, spit it out" rule.....anything that wont chew down completely (broccoli stems, steak fibers, pieces of ground beef, Jerky fibers, etc) will chew into tough ball, which I dont attempt to swallow. I have learned to discreetly deposit this in my napkin!

Thank you everyone for these kind words of experience and encouragement. I don't think it was an accident I stumbled onto this forum. I will keep you updated. I think until my appt, I will try the warm drink before a meal and think about satiety while eating.

Well, I may not need an unfill after all. After reading the comments posted here I have paid much closed attention to how long I chew and how slowly I eat. So I was able eat a small salad and vegies and redfish - small amount of each. I felt great after a couple of balanced meals. It's amazing how I can slide into the bad habits of eating too fast. This band makes me pay though.

Thanks again for your help.

Kewi, my wife hasn't had but one problem with her food coming back up and that was because she got stuck. She tells me that she will NOT swallow a bite of anything if she can't smear it against the roof of her mouth without "lumps". She might get tired of chewing, but she doesn't have to chew it "twice".

If healthy solid foods come back up, you are still too tight.

Exactly! If you are not able to eat healthy solid foods without PBing then you are too tight a small slight unfill as little as .1 or .2 ccs removed will make a huge difference.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
