Start Liquids Tomorrow, Surgery 9/4!

Recommended Posts

New here! Hi!! I'm Robyn. I start my liquids tomorrow, and I'll be 14 days from surgery. :-) I'm super excited to start on this journey. My (ex) mother in law had it a year ago, same dr (Dr Kim in DFW). Any tips for the liquid phase??

Hi!!! I am doing fine so far, one shake in so far. Another for after lunch. Plan on having chicken broth for lunch & a SF Jello after. Big challenge will come at dinner bc I have a work event this evening. They are having catered food. :-/ I am taking a very cold Protein Shake with me for my event & will stick with it.

Hi Rachel we are the same height and almost the same weight. I'm hoping for a mid September surgery date. Have you done any pre dieting? I was just told to loose 12 lbs but have only lost 5. Haven't been put on any pre surgery diets yet but I may start a liquid one on my own. Hope to hear about how your surgery goes as we are almost in the same "boat".

One thing that has helped me is flavored water(crystal lite, mio drops, Powerade zero). I have always been a big Water drinker. But since starting the preop diet I have found I was still drinking alot of water but needed something more. Just by adding flavor to my water it has helped with some cravings.

I'm assuming your a Texas gal. I haven't seen one on here. I'm in Weatherford and will be having mine in Ft.Worth by Dr. Casteneda. I just finished my phsyc. Last step. Now waiting on date to be set. I'm glad to correspond with someone close by.

Hi Barisaxylady,

I start my pre op diet tomorrow. Drinking a lot of Protein shakes. I use Dymatize which I love, it's actually yummy, I get it from Amazon. I already use it for Breakfast a lot. Excited and nervous for my surgery. I'm on Facebook if you want to friend me. I'm on there more than here. www.facebook.com/vsg.rachel

Hi! My surgery is scheduled for Aug 30, it's nice to see everyone is feeling the same way about the Pre Op diet, I can't wait to follow everyone's success, since we're all sleeping around the same time!

My surgery is Aug 29th and I'm one week into my pre-op liquid diet.< /p>

Looking forward to the future when I can bust out my smaller clothes in storage and I can take a bite of what I want and be full. :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
