yazun82 reacted to Gastricsleeve4me in Flatout PizzaI'd posted previously about my love of flatout bread. Last night I cut one in half and made buffalo chicken on one half (wing sauce, canned chicken, cheddar cheese, sprinkling of ranch dressing packet) and sausage/pepp on the other (prego pre made pizza sauce, leftover sausage, turkey pepperoni, and four cheese pizza blend). At 8 weeks I could only eat 1/6 of a flatout...now I can do about a quarter, but am stuffed (e.g., what you see in pic is four meals)

yazun82 got a reaction from krisq16 in Sleeved 9/3It wasn't a walk in the park but it wasn't to bad! I only took a week off because I didn't want to go through HR plus they frown upon sick leave but that's all right I feel good! I'm gonna take it slow and pray for patience. I haven't been hungry yet when my mother cooks the smell just makes my mouth water! So I'm ready to go home, to not be tortured by good smelling food! Praying for the best on this journey! Hope to hear from your experience as well!

yazun82 reacted to slimmom24angels in One Week Post Op Today, And I Am Down......wait For It...........19lbs......Yayyyyyyy!!!!! Confetti is flying, and I am kicking and screaming. To God be all of the Glory! I knew that I had lost weight obviously, but never in my wildest dreams did I think that I had loss 19lbs. I was completely blown away. I am truly overjoyed by this news, and motivated to continue. It got hard the one night that my DH and kids were eating McDonald's, and we all know how those fries smell. I thought that I was going to have to go outside. Although, I am not having hunger pangs, my nose works fine.lol But I have to get used to that. At work, there are always potluck luncheons going on, and food aromas are the norm everyday. So I will be tested on the regular, but I have got to get the victory over food, if I want this sleeve to be a success. So please keep me in your prayers, and as usual I will pray for you as well. Remember, we are in this sleeve together!

yazun82 reacted to Sleevedreamz in Post-Op...surgery Was Sept. 4ThI was sleeved on the 4th also! I have been trying really hard to come up with a new dish every day for puree so that I don't end up going crazy from things being too bland. So far I've been sticking to homemade Soups so that when they are blended it doesn't feel as though things are way different than they were before. It is a mind thing for me so having "soup" would naturally be creamy and I don't feel so weird about it plus my family can have the same thing (without blending). I am only eating about 4oz per meal (sometimes only 3 bc 4 can make me feel too full at the moment). The great thing about it is that even using fat free and low sugar and sodium ingredients in the house is eating healthier and no one has noticed a difference. I was always cooking before so I feel like it's important to continue to try to keep things somewhat normal while making much healthier choices. My husband is always super honest and he has loved the food I've come up with both nights. The only difference right now is that I had some complications to the anesthesia so I am currently immobile so I have had to sit at the kitchen counter and walk my hubby through the steps to get the food made. Maybe a chef will be born...lol. And, although everything I've used is lowfat, etc. there's no way I am getting too much sugar, calories, or fat since I can only eat 3-4 oz and both of these meals are full of Protein and can have unflavored Protein powder added if you want more. All that said said, we made broccoli and cheese Soup yestereday and white chicken chili tonight. So far, the white chicken chili was my favorite. Posting recipies below:
Broccoli Cheddar Soup: (1/4 butter, 1/2 chopped onion, 1 clove garlic, 1/4 cup whole wheat flour, 1 cup skim milk, 1 can fat free Campbell's broccoli/cheese soup, 2 cups fat free chicken stock, 1 bag of steamed broccoli florets, 8 oz fat free sharp shredded cheddar, and pepper to taste. (the recipe calls for salt but I left this out so that it's healthier and I couldn't tell the difference.) Sauté the onion and garlic in the butter over medium heat, and add in the flour, stirring constantly. Add milk, can of soup, and chicken stock. Bring to almost a boil. Then add the broccoli and simmer for about 20 minutes. Add the cheese last and then give it time to melt before serving.
White Chicken Chili: 4 cans great northern Beans, 1 lb. chicken, 2 cloves garlic, 1 cup diced onion, 2 t. Oregano, 2 cans lowfat cream of chicken, 3 cups lowfat chicken broth, 1 can diced green chiles,6 oz low fat/fat free sour cream, and 2 cups low fat monterey jack shredded cheese. Cover your skillet with olive oil, add the diced onion, crushed garlic cloves, chicken (I added whole pieces and cut up later, but you can cut up beforehand if you want), and canned chilies. I set the stove top on about 4-5 and covered with a lid and let all of this cook together. I went ahead and got my larger pot ready and added the beans, cream of chicken, broth, and oregano and let this start heating up on low to medium heat. After about 10-15 minutes (when my chicken was cooked through) I added the skillet ingredients (I cut my chicken up at this time) into the pot so that everything could cook together. I cooked on medium heat for about 30 minutes. At the very end, we added the 6oz of sour cream and the cheese and let simmer for another 5-10 minutes and then it was ready to go. I added about a tsp of sour cream on top of soup right before I ate it and I loved it. I will probably have this again for lunch tomorrow.
Anyways, sorry this went so long, but I love when people give me ideas so I wanted to share what I've done so far.

yazun82 got a reaction from sunsetblvd68 in Post-Op...surgery Was Sept. 4ThMy doctor said that the younger you are and if you haven't been through any surgery or child birth the more of a whimp you are! So if you have given birth three times it will be a piece of cake! (pun intended I'm craving cake lol!) I didn't think it was bad, I was a bit nauseous but nothing to bad. I was walking 3 hours after surgery, gas pains are bearable. I was very thirsty and all i could do was rinse my mouth out Third day I was suffering from cabin fever and was ready to go home!

yazun82 reacted to lmbordelon in Post-Op...surgery Was Sept. 4ThHey All! I just had my surgery on the 4th. It went well, and my doctor said that everything looks great.
I have had some soreness and lots of gas pain, but nothing unbearable. I have been getting about 40ozs in since surgery. I feel a little bit stronger everyday.
What are some good things to start eating now that I am about to phase back to full liquids and soft mushy foods.
I have finally started dropping a little weight post surgery too.
Good luck to all those waiting to have surgery and speedy recovery and gentle hugs to those post-op!

yazun82 reacted to ma46 in Surgery Day Tomorrow 8/27Had my surgery om the 27th. Came home last evening
I had a morphine pump . The gas pain was bad in the recovery room but it passed. Now i get intermittent gas pain that really hurts but it passes quickly. I have been on clear liquids since the 26th and I am still at my preop weight. Thought I would have lost several pounds at least. I think the worst part is before the operation - just so anxious before they took me into O.R. they have a special OR table. And they tilt it forward as the operation is done in that position. I remember they talking to me and joking around to be nice and then I woke up.in the recovery room. It was amazing. And the nurses were so kind. Time flies and I am now home and so relieved this is behind me. I'm on clears for one week. I think being on clears preop and now tor this week is the wordy part. I'm not really hungry buy I would really like a meal
Good luck to all who are going soon. It will be done before you know it.

yazun82 reacted to this.time.its.4.me in I Dont Need Your Help..thanksI went the other day to a local thrift shop. Figured I would start looking for things in various sizes since things come & go so fast in thrift shops. I can never find anything when I need it. Just planning ahead for my journey.
Anywhoo I also have a daughter so I figured I would take a look to see if there was anything for her. I was looking though a basket of shorts & a lady says to me as im digging though .....Those are size 0 & 1's......really i wouldnt have guessed by holding them up. I just ignored her & proceeded to look onto the table. Again she walks right up to me & said the clothes are arranged by size. The bigger ones are down there. (Even those wouldnt have fit)
At this point I could have really made a scene. I just politely told her that I do have a daughter that does were a size 0 so I know what im looking for.
It never seems to amaze me how someone can think they are helping me with comments like that & the tone she used.
Maybe this is the reason I try not to leave the house. Here I was having an exciting day getting things ready for my new life & she ruined it.

yazun82 reacted to mattr2 in Dr. Rodriguez In Cd Juarez?I was sleeved on the 13th by Dr. Rod in Juarez. He was great and I never felt unsafe. The hospital is about 5 mikes over the boarder is all.
I have had zero problems since being banded. You are in excellent hands. There are actually three very good doctors taking care of you while you are at star medica and a staff that is better than anything I've had in the states.

I'm Sept. 7 as well! I also started my liquid diet Friday. I am allowed veggies, and a salad with protein for one meal. The first couple of days were difficult. I was off work so I took 2 Tylenol PM's and slept through the worst of it. But the way I look at it is that we are on this liquid diet because our surgeries are finally imminent!! I am SO HAPPY to be to the point of being on the liquid pre-op diet. I have lost 7 lbs. so far. We are on our way!

yazun82 reacted to Lissa in Who's Become A "nut-Ie"?I have been accused of being a workaholic in the past. Now, I'm a work-out-aholic! I get jittery and nasty when things interfere with my workout routine. I want to go to the gym every day and I find myself putting the gym time ahead of everything else. My workout partner and I have had scheduling conflicts that have made me miss a few days here and there, so I've started going at 6am daily. Whether she's ready and willing or not, I am up and gone to the gym. I've even made keeping a gym bag with workout clothes, towel, etc. in my car a priority. What's worse is that I now know the location of every branch of my gym for over 150 miles of my regular travel area and I'll drop in to work out at a location if I have more than two hours to kill. I've become pretty good at getting into the gym, working out for half an hour, showering, getting back into work clothes, and out the door with a minimum of fuss.
Yes, my friends are at a loss at the "new me". Pre-op, I wouldn't walk the length of the mall. It was even hard back then to breathe when walking from the front door to the car. Now, I'm the one with all the energy and the "Let's go do something physical" attitude. What a difference a year makes... and, yes, I know that I'm nuts.
