  1. The day is almost here and I am getting nervous! I am very excited as well! Anyone else on the same boat?
  2. Hello VSG world! I had my surgery September 3, 2012. I have since lost 100 lbs and I am super super happy and excited! I can wear cute clothes, I feel good about myself and I can finally say I am beautiful! But...I am shy! I have been single for a while and feel ready to be loved and hugged. But I can't look at a guy without blushing. And maybe that's why they are not coming close The women at work are very supportive and always say how pretty I look but I want the men to notice and me not be shy enough to flirt! Lol Well I got that off my chest, any tips on flirting?
  3. You look amazing! What was your starting weight?

Single... but to shy to mingle

Thank you guys! I know it's all about self esteem and I feel pretty confident! But the insecurities of being overweight so many years and hiding behind my fat. I am a social worker so I work with predominately women, long hours, long days! Pole dancing...I was blushing as I was reading it!
  8. Hello all! I was sleeved in August and I too am freaking out about my hair falling out! I have such an intimate relationship with my hair, I did hide behind it for many many years! So Upset With Myself

I also carry the same guilt! Once I was freed I are foods high in carbs I haven't told anyone because so many people believe in me and have been helping me through this journey! The amounts are small I am so glad my sleeve won't let me eat more! Thank you for starting this thread it was exactly how I was feeling!

    Missing Person?

I had my surgery in Cd Juarez with Dr Rodriguez. Yes the " the most dangerous city in Mexico!" I never for one second felt unsafe. My insurance would not cover any portion for surgery, zip, zero, nada! I did so much research and I am happy with my decision. I was always with a doctor by my side, the psychiatrist, the surgeons, nurses! They came to my room before surgery, the team met with my parents while I was in recovery. Nurses were so nice and helpful, and checked in on me so much I hardly could sleep! It may not be for everybody but I respect others decisions, bottom line I need to be healthy and this was the choice for me!
  11. I'm on full liquids and as of Monday my doctor added creamy soups. Anybody have to do the same? The cream of everything made for me is nasty so much that I rather not eat but because I'm not eating as much I noticed a slow down in my weight loss. Any suggestions?
  12. I am doing well! Getting bored with food! I'm on full liquids still adding some cremes and I rather not eat! I quickly found out that is not good! So I make myself drink protein shakes and eat cream of vegetables. Any suggestions on how to enjoy my meals?
  13. I was sleeved 9/3! Ten days post-op! I am on two weeks of full liquids, so just reading about eggs and beans makes my mouth water. I agree, most of the posts I have read the doctors give different recommendations. I had my one week appt on Monday and my doctor was very proud of me 25lbs! My surgery was not bad, I was up and walking that same day, no pain just frustration from not being able to sleep on my side. I am so happy to hear everyone is doing so well! I can get my water doen for sure with no difficulties! The protein shakes on the other hand...,.YUCK! LOL but that was the one thing my doctor insisted was a must, 60 grams of protein! Does anybody have any suggestions on how to make them not taste so bad?

    Photos Of My Journey

You look great! There is a huge difference! How long ago was your surgery?
  15. My doctor said that the younger you are and if you haven't been through any surgery or child birth the more of a whimp you are! So if you have given birth three times it will be a piece of cake! (pun intended I'm craving cake lol!) I didn't think it was bad, I was a bit nauseous but nothing to bad. I was walking 3 hours after surgery, gas pains are bearable. I was very thirsty and all i could do was rinse my mouth out Third day I was suffering from cabin fever and was ready to go home!
  16. I was sleeved 9/3 and would love to hear what others have to say! I haven't weighed myself because I did as soon as I was home from the hospital and I had gained 10 pounds! I was sad but I know it's all the IV so I'm going to wait for the 1 week mark! Keep me posted on your journey!
  17. Hello all! I was sleeved 9/3! Yay! Surgery went without complications! Praise the Lord! I know I am being impatient, but when I got home I weighed myself and was 10 pounds heavier! For those that have been in my shoes, how long before you start to notice a change? How long before the swelling goes down? I have been following the diet to the T and have been drinking my water. I am so excited to continue working on new me!

    Sleeved 9/3

It wasn't a walk in the park but it wasn't to bad! I only took a week off because I didn't want to go through HR plus they frown upon sick leave but that's all right I feel good! I'm gonna take it slow and pray for patience. I haven't been hungry yet when my mother cooks the smell just makes my mouth water! So I'm ready to go home, to not be tortured by good smelling food! Praying for the best on this journey! Hope to hear from your experience as well!
  19. Thank you for sharing! I'm 3 days post op and I had some nausea from the anesthesia but nothing to bad. I agree the pain is not being able to sleep on your side or tummy! I also suffered from thirst, I drink lots of water and ice chips were heaven!

    Sleeved 9/3

But I will not weigh myself anymore and just let my body do what it's gotta do! I'm concerned about the swelling because I go back to work on Monday. Mom said to wear loose fitting clothes...hello I had the surgery in part because all my clothes are super tight...lol jk! I'm hopping the swelling goes down a bit.
