What is your current fill in your 4cc band?

Recommended Posts

Dear Makemelean (good name)... Yes, I am a RN. I was banded June 1, 2005. I initially lost approx. 50 pounds. I took a new job in quality review, had boughts with my asthma and bronchitis, was on predinisone, had my band fill out due to esophagitis and eventually gained all of weight back plus 5 pounds. I was so discouraged and angry at myself. I felt out of control. I was feeling horrible, run down and could feel my health deteriorating. My internal med doc suggested that I give it another try. (I switched doctors b/c mine was not supportive).

So I found a new doc, got a fill......it was too tightl.......had some taken out a few days later......and am doing better. I did lose 10 pounds, which made me feel great! I new it was a new beginning. I finally found like I found a right spot for me!

Right now I am vacationing and am having a bit of difficulty "restraining" myself. But, I have got to take it one day at a time and forgive myself if I screw up.

Good luck to you. I am glad you are on here getting support. I am loving this online support! I wish there was a convention that bandsters could go to! That would be cool!

First fill--1-cc--I was 251 pounds with my starting weight of 273. I got the second fill--june 13th--I was 243...So she did .6 for me.

Total of 1.6...I don't think I can do anymore--but we'll see. I may need to go to the next levelof .4 to make it a full 2 cc...I have tightness in the morning--somedays--it's evening. I have to see if I am down in the 230's by now...I have not gotten a weight since June 13th... I suspect I am right at about 237 by now

Dear nursinggal just read your reply 2 me (makemelean) I am still doing well I feel it in my clothes I will weigh tomorrow a.m. and see if I have more than 7 lbs off. It sounds like u r doing very well . It is so true the mind has to work with the band also. I feel restriction but I still feel hungry and want to eat. I am stopping tho with the restriction due to really feeling pain, and some vomiting at times. It kind of makes you afraid to eat. Have u had vomiting at times. Thanks 4 ur reply continued sucess and take care Waiting to hear from u again sincerely , makemelean ps. thanks for saying I picked a good name I thought it was appropiate

I only had restriction right after surgury.

I just went in this week for my fifth fill and am now at 3.7 in my 4 cc band. My doctor said quite strongly that I won't be able to get any more fills. It's only been 2 days but so far it feels fine. Had some scrambled egg for Breakfast, 1/2 a piece of toast for lunch and am about to go out for dinner (night market with stalls of snack size food - should be good). Had fish & chips for dinner last night and managed a couple of bites of the fish and perhaps 4 fries? I think my issue is I must not let myself eat the soft/easy stuff. I need to make a note and put it in my kitchen - remember to eat Protein first, then veggies, then starch. And no Starbucks frap's for me. Am looking forward to finally getting out of the 220's and start heading down again. Been here too long now.

Hey Make me Lean! I am so glad to hear from you. Are you vomiting or having productive burping??? That used to confuse me so bad. If you are truly vomiting, then you need to see your doctor, because excessive vomiting can cause band slippage. Please be careful with that.

I am noticing that during the day, I am more restricted than in the evening, which for me is bad, because that is when I want to EAT! I tell you what, this band is definitely a mind over matter thing for sure!

Keep me posted and keep it up. We just have to take this journey one day at a time.....one meal at a time!

Good Luck!

My 1st fill was 1.8 in my 4cc band on June 25 (4 weeks post-op). Can't really say I'm feeling alot of restriction yet. I haven't PB or slimed, but will power is still hanging in there. I have another fill scheduled Mid August, and I think my will power will hold me until then, but past history tells me there is definitely a limit to my self-control, but that's why I'm here!!!

Haven't been here for at least a week, but just wanted to comment on the variability of a fill 3.0 has been for me. I just went on a cruise with BEAUTIFUL and PLENTIFUL food and only a banded nervous person like me could lose weight. I was so nervous or something made me tight. FOr some reason travel makes me tight, I KNOW altitude should make any different, but perhaps retaining Fluid does. So anyway, I couldn't eat much, but got a taste of everything I wanted and came home about 3 pounds lighter...........have to say I am loving that.

I am glad to hear you got a fill from the good doctor Gilbert. I am here rooting for you my sister.

Tomorrow is my one year anniversary and I can NOT believe it. I am 85 pounds lighter, but SO much lighter in my mind. I feel like I have gained a new life.

Hugs to all my friends.

Keep losing.....hugs

Weight loss is in slooooooooooo moooooooooooooooootion!

But to be honest, I have been partaking much more alcohol this summer than usual and eating more of the bad stuff. But my fill is still pretty good.

I am going to be more serious about my good food this month and come September, I am gonna rock on hard. I am determined to beat the odds of a 60% weight loss. I am aiming to lose 100%..... 20-25 more to go.....

How is everyone else doing on their current fill.

I'd love to hear.

I am thinking, one more small fill to 3.2 and I will be there.

Was filled to 2.2cc. Got reflux and had all of it taken out 2 weeks ago.

Now I'm feeling really well and gained 4 lbs!!! : (

I'm ready to get back in gear!

I'll get my 2.2 back in a couple of weeks.

I am filled at 4cc right now. I am at a good restriction and should last awhile. I get PB's when I eat to fast or the wrong things. I am hoping this will carry me to goal. My doc says they can put a little more Fluid than it says. Also he said sometimes it evaporates or loses some of the fluid.;)

I am at a stand still with weight loss this week, but I am praying that I am just compacting.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
