Approved For Sleeve On Septmber 6. Any Advice?

Recommended Posts

Hi there it is nice to meet everyone, I am new here, in need of advice from the experts who have had the surgery. Also looking for someone who is also pre op, so we can discuss feelings and thoughts though this journey of weight loss. My surgery is scheduled for September 6 and honestly I am getting very nervous, I have a small support system at home. I am not metioning my surgery to a whole lot of people, fear of negative feed back, which I really am not in the mood for. :P I am a 47 year old single mother of an 8 year old daughter who is my world. I want to be healthier for myself and my daughter, we have lots to do.

Hello. I am pretty new here also.... I am 41year old wife & mom of 2 daughters and just got approval yesterday. No date scheduled yet. I feel the same .....so excited but nervous toooo ! i agree that keeping your health business somewhat quiet isnt a bad idea. I have confided in a few friends and have gotten mixed responses for certain.

Best wishes ! Keep the faith it will be sooooo worth it!!!

Also looking for encouragement and a buddy for support & to give support. My children are all grown up. I'm doing this for me,my health is going downhill & I can honestly say I am sick and tired of being sick and tired!

Hi I am 9 day post op....well to tell ya the truth...I went into surgery at 205 3 days after i was 215...I was shocked..they said it was all the IV fluids etc....they tried to do a keyhole but had to cut me open instead 8 inch cut....

I am on 2 shakes and 1 Soup a day....and I am hungary....I thought all that would go away...and it did some....but I am eyeing my kids dinners etc...not that I would do it cause they said it would make my stomach leak which I am deathly afraid of....today nine days later I am back to 205....I get on the scale like about 4 times a day to see if anything is happening....lol....and nothing is happening...I thought I would have lost at least 60 lb by now...NOT...just kidding....I dunno..Im doing it all but I dont have much patience and I am in a LOT of pain from this cut I have.......24th aug I go onto puree food so we will see if that makes me a bit better in my mind....

Good luck to you girls...if anyone wants to email me ...I am at gokiwi68@gmail.com cheers...

Hi. I had my surgery Aug 8th and i thought i felt the same way about being hungry. Turns out i am really just bored. 46 years of food being equated to entertainment isnt easy to change. I am trying to find things o keep me occupied, or else, i start thinking about food. I realize i am not physically hungry but mentally i want to eat. If anyone knows any good tips to prvent this i would love to hear them

I have the same issue...and I love to eat and watch TV. I find keeping my hands busy works (I.e crossword puzzles, sudoku, or crafting helps).

Hi nice to meet u - welcome!! 6 mths ago I was where u were and now I can honestly say WOW this is the best thing ever because it FORCES u to stop eating before u ridiculously overstuff urself. It is the tool I needed because that in conjunction with daily exercise will produce amazing results which will leave u incredibly happy and others in complete awe! Good luck to u and please re-post after surgery and tell us how ur doing!!! It'll be a FANTASTIC journey!!!

I too am scheduled for Sept. 6th. I am not nervous (yet) more of a "bring it on" attitude. I am 51 yr old but have lost 91 lbs. on my own so far and feel younger then I have in yrs. I am hoping that as I continue to lose I will continue feeling younger and healthier. I have chosen to be somewhat open about my decsion to have surgery. My close friends and relatives are aware and fully supportive. I have always had a strong personality and like to face things head on so when I run into someone I will mention that I decided to have surgery to use as a tool to assist me with the rest of my journey. I kind of figure that in a short period of time the rumor mills will be at work and that if I talk about my choice there will be less people gossiping and maybe my progress will help someone else make a choice to better themselves in whatever way that may be.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
