I take Metamucil pills and stool softener everyday but it's been about 5 days I think since the last time I pooped. Been drinking drinks with Miralax all day today. Yesterday I had to poo but only a tiny bit came out. I was in pain all night with horrible poop cramps, so much that I was being woken up from sleep and in tears. I took some IBS medicine and that allowed me to sleep. I thought for sure something would come out today. I'm starting to worry. I don't want to eat anything else until something comes out...?

What about an enema? But ask MD first!

Howdy, neighbor, Dade City here.

5 days is a bit long but not beyond extrordinary. My wife, Roux N Y girl, goes that long occasionally. I'm a sleever and get fixed up with fig and prune eating, Metamucil, and/or Organo gold coffee. Be sure to keep the Water intake up. Whole wheatTriscuits seem to help, too.

I just went through the same thing last week and the doctor told me to take the Mirilax, Colace (stool softener) and a Senecot (a natural vegetable stimulant laxative w/ stool softener). Also, try to take in as much Water as possible. I did all these and still could not go and she said if it did not work to use a Fleet enema and lie on my back and roll back and forth and hold it as long as I could and then if I still did not feel total relief to fill the bottle with warm Water and do another one. I ended up having to do the enema and did not need to do it a second time and it had been 8 days. It was miserable!! I hope you find relief.

Take care!

It was 9 days before I had a bowel movement and it took what seemed like an Act of God for it to even happen. I had to use Milk of Magnesium to get thing started... Enemas didn't work, Suppositories didn't work. The first time was painful but once I got that out of the way I became more regular. I still don't go as often as I did before surgery but once or twice a week I drink a hot tea called "Smooth Move" and it seems to help stay regular.

Good Luck!

I went 7 days, and it happened naturally. Pre-Op I had to take suppositories to go, I was so stopped up.

I am doing metamucil, a prescription stool softener (like colace) called Amitiza, I got the phyllips pills but those are too darn big and I have to crush them and that's icky because the edges get sharp. Milk of Magnesia (makes me want to throw up and made me sweat and shake) so I can only get down 1 tablespoon once in a while. Unfortunately, I have to use suppositories. I wait until later in the afternoon and use a suppository and I can go a little bit.

I am hoping as I bring in more food, I'll become more regular. I think I'll look into the tea.

The Smooth Move tea is great - I just don't love the flavor but better than milk of magnesia and it does the job!

Thanks everyone. I am broke until tomorrow so I think I'll just keep on with the miralax today and if nothing happens go and grab some suppositories or an enema tomorrow. I was doing fine pooping until now. I'm 6 weeks out of surgery and been eating like 1000 cals.

I'm at nine weeks and having same prob. Miralax and colace were doing nothing. But milk of magnesia last night and now everything's moving. Think I took too much (full dose) since I've got the runs every couple hours for last 7 hrs...but frankly just happy to be cleaned out! Took at 10:30pm and was going by 3am.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
