Post Surgery Energy

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me how much energy you have after surgery? I live in a townhouse with three levels, and wonder how I am going to do with the stairs. I also adopted a puppy today and I get to pick her up 3 days after my surgery (I can't help it - she stole my heart)

Please give me realistic expectations of what I'll be doing 3 days afterward, and how many stairs I can do - I'll have to go up and down to take the puppy to the yard. Thanks!

Cassandra- I was just banded on Aug 31st, and I've been school shopping at the mall, garage sale'n, and scrubbing my bathroom floor. I feel great for just have surgery. I'm just trying to keep my mind off cheeseburgers.

Every person is different. Don't be shocked if you aren't ready to run a race, 3 days after surgery. I have stairs and I took it slow the first week. I could make it, but slowly. I was still sore. The puppy thing, well...have fun!!!

I agree that everyone is different and recovers at a different pace. And a lot of it has to do with how your body reacts to anesthia too. Personally, it was over a week before I really got to feeling well enough to get up and around much. I was laid off from my job two weeks before surgery though, so I had as much time as I needed to recover, thank goodness.

I had my surgery on a Thursday and went back to work that next Monday. It was too soon for me. I was exhausted. By Wednesday, I started feeling my energy come back. Since then, I've been walking 1 mile everyday and really feel good! You'll feel better everyday, Cassandra. What kind of puppy did you get?

I adopted a lab/collie mix and think I am going to name her Hailey. I know it'll be tough to get her just 3 days after surgery - but there's no way I could leave her and not know what kind of family she would get. She gave me a kiss and my heart was hers!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
