I had to move my surgery up 3 weeks and luckily was able to cancel my airfare. However, I'm in shock over the difference in prices, assuming because the date is closer but it's still 3 weeks out.

Where did you find the lowest airfare? (going from DC area to san diego)

I went from Texas and paid $700+. I bought my ticket 5 days before my trip.

1 months = 18 lbs. That is awsome!

Are you strict with your diet and do you exercise yet?

Yes, the earlier you can book the better, I remember 1 1/2 years ago I paid only about $450 from NW Arkansas. Rising fuel costs and other things have really driven up the prices.

I personally try Kayak.com or Priceline.com directly for the best deals - quite often there just aren't any, the price is pretty much the same for a majority of carriers, but once in a while you can hit on a deal.

Yeah, I wasn't willing to wait longer with the hopes of a cheaper miracle. going from $340 RT to $565 RT was a smack in the face. I had thought about paying for my daughter to come but the airfare kicked that thought in the butt. lol

the thought that I'm that much closer to my date is the only thing that made it easier.

I'm also justifying alot of the expenditure with "there won't be a food bill" and "when we go out to dinner it will 50% of the usual cost". lol

Can you try booking out of Baltimore (BWI), it tends to run less expensive. Also did you try Southwest Airlines? Hope this helps:)

I had to follow my post-op diet. I just started on real food yesterday. I had to wait 30 days post surgery to start real food. I can barely eat though. I'm at 175 lbs this morning, that's 23 lbs in one month. I have only exercised once this week (walked on the treadmill for 30 mins). I plan to exercise more starting from next week since I'm gonna be eating real food now.

I'm not looking forward to the first month at all. Thinking about starting to walk daily but not sure. My knees and feet hurt and I don't want to aggrivate anything and make it worse before surgery - especially my feet. I'd rather be lighter before I start anything (plus it's so damn hot out. )

Good luck!

Im having surgery with Dr. Kelly on July 20th. Booked my ticket via Priceline last week and it ran me about 461 from BWI to SAN.

In terms of exercise, I started out at 337 and hit the gym. Ive been fluctuating between 290 and 296 for the last week or two. I do about 3-4 miles and mix my cardio with weight training.

Sounds like you are doing great! I am scared to workout for fear of hurting my feet again (plantar fasciatis). I know if I'm in pain from that I will never work out once sleeved. Maybe I'm just putting it off but everytime my feet start acting up I'm terrified I'll go back to not being able to walk more than a step or two every morning without pain.

good luck and let me know how it goes :)

I bought 2 round trip tickets from Dallas/Fort Worth to San Diego non-stop via Spirit Airlines. For the flight home we sat in Spirit's big front seats (equivalent to first class seat on other airlines) which cost an additional $25 per person. Total cost for both tickets = $427.

Spirit is cheap, but their flights are limited, and they have a bunch of surcharges. If you decide to book with them, make sure you read about their fees. They allow you to bring one personal item up to the size of a college/high school book bag.

Here is a list of their fees: http://www.spirit.com/optionalfees.aspx

A few to note:

Carry on bags

Ability to chose your own seat (vs letting them pick)

drinks ($3 each)

Print boarding pass at the airport (vs at home)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
