Roll Call Nurses Being Sleeved ...........

Recommended Posts

Hey Nurses! I'm a nurse in a recovery room, nurse for almost 10 years now. I just got sleeved on Tuesday the 4th. I can say that I don't like being a patient, ugh. Just got home today and I am feeling good. Sore and tired, but nothing like the first day. It was a BRUTAL day! Had a dilaudid PCA and was still in pain, but the PCA made it bearable. Drinking Protein shakes... yuck. But excited about the future and a new healthy me!!

Hey everyone! ER nurse for first 15 yrs of my career now CRNA for past 11 yrs. Have really been researching this procedure for past 2 mos. Originally thought would have procedure in Mexico since have low BMI (32) so not covered under insurance but did find local surgeon who will do for $11200.00 thought would be better off if any complications occur plus my husband was really against the Mexico idea. Have been reading this forum faithfully every night for past few months and now that I've scheduled my date 11/1 thought it was time to start participating. Trying to intervene before I develop any more co-morbidities other than the high cholesterol I currently have. Like everyone else can lose few pounds here but can't seem to keep them off. Turning big 5-0 next year so now is the time! Can't wait for my sleeve!

I'm taking 8 weeks not sure I need that long but I'm 3 weeks today and no way couldI go back my large incision still hurts and really hurts if I move a certain way I have to wear lead and I just couldn't do it yet

Your "large incision"? How large? Where is it located-high, low? I am planning 4 weeks off, but warned my director I may come back with lifting restrictions. Hope you continue to recover well.

Hello fellow nurses,

I have been a nurse for 14 years, 51 years old, don't have a date yet, hoping for Oct but plan on taking 6 weeks off. My job doesn't offer light duty, have to be able to run to codes etc..I don't bounce back as easily at my age and weight so I wanted to make sure I was recovered before returning. Also I am a bit concerned about being able to manage my Fluid and nutritional needs in the beginning. Our unit has really cracked down on any fluids or foods at the stations. I already have a nurses bladder, can hold it for a shift if needed but don't think my revised tunny but will be up to the challenge.

Hello to all my Nursing Sisters! I've been in nursing 33yrs. I m a pedi nurse, and was was sleeved on June 25. I was out 10 days.

I've lost 40#. I've gone from wearing a real tight XL scrubs to a loose Large. I need to invest in med. scrubs but I'm soooo proud of myself and to be able to bend without feeling like I'm suffocating myself. To be able to cross my legs freely without having to lift n cross my legs by pulling on my pant leg. My blood pressure is normal 118/56 without any meds...woohoo! Good Luck to everyone! This is the best decision I've ever made..

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
