The Waiting Unite

I started my journey a bit ago, but had my first consult on June 28. I was given a list of requirements for appointments, endoscopies, EKGs, lab work, which I arranged all for last week and this week. Saw the Nutrionist, the psychologist, my PcP sent his letter, had my labs, ekg and will have my Upeer Gi on Thursday. i thought I was done. Nope, I have to have 3 months of supervised diet. I am so mad I could cry. i was so excited to think I would have a sleeve by laborday, now It may not be until Oct. I am the tupe, when I want something, I hone in and get the job done, to make it so. Now I have to sit and wait. Anyone else?

I have to wait until October too so I feel your pain. While I'm inpatient I consider mysel lucky because I know a lot of people have to do 6 months of the diet- and for some it takes longer. I can wai

Has Cigna approved you yet?

No, not yet. I was told that my file is complete, and it is being reviewed. I'm so disappointed because I couldn't meet the deadline for work and I'll have to move the surgery back. They'll probably take the entire 30 days, but I'm expecting approval. I'm 36, with a 41 BMI along with diabetes and high blood pressure. I guess I'll be either a September or October sleever. Sucks.

Try and forget about, yea I know easier said than done, and watch you get an answer. I have my pysch eval and nut appt Monday and last weigh in at the end of the month. I'm hoping to submit at end of month. I'm so stoked seems so close yet so far. I'm 5'6, 332, bmi 53 (ugh). I have high blood pressure, & sleep apnea.

What was your psyche eval like. Did you have to answer a long questionaire or just converse with the psychiatrist?

It's interesting to hear the process you have to go through - I am from Australia and have my first appointments in a few weeks. i too was hoping that I would be able to book surgery quickly and now I am a bit worried. Fingers crossed i'll have good news and will be able to have my surgery sooner rather than later.

Good luck to everyone else waiting for their surgeries!

Hi Lila! I'm in Melbourne. You?

I'm 17 days post op.

Hi Lila! I'm in Melbourne. You?

I'm 17 days post op.

Hi I am in Gunnedah in rural NSW but I am having my op on the Gold Coast. How are you feeling? Is the pain etc as bad as I've seen in Youtube posts???

To be honest, I haven't suffered as yet with the sleeve! Hernias Hurt like heck, maybe disguising the sleeve if it is sore?

My process was hear about sleeve may 30, surgeon appt the next week. 2 week preop diet. Meet with physician, blood work, dietician. Surgery June 26.

That's fantastic! I hope that my experience is as fast as yours. How did you cope with the pre-op diet? I haven't tried optislim before but am thinking I might get some to try...Congratuations on your weight loss to date - it's amazing!!

What happened that made it take so long? I am very sorry. We shouldnt have to go through so many hoops.

Insurance requirements, and insurance incompetence, and insurance LIES: I had a two month delay after they told my surgeon that the procedure wasn't covered- IT IS, but it was up to me to PROVE it!

Dietician was June 21. Weighed 103 kilos, 92.6 now :)

That is simply amazing! It's life changing - I find that I can't even imagine what I will be like at the end of this, what I will look like :) It's an adventure!!

When I was using only diet and exercise to lose weight, my goal was to get between 69 & 72 kilos. With my new tool I will slam dunk that goal and forge in to my new goal! 60-63 kilos... Only 30 kilos to go! 66 lbs that is :)

And I should add that my psych evaluation, the therapist demanded to see me again because I admitted I was abused by my mother. Another month setback.

And one month, I couldn't get to my PCP for my monthly visit during the mandatory 6 month supervised diet and exercise, so there was another month lost.

Just many many delays, most of it was insurance snafus.

Thanks guys! Taking a deep breath and focusing on the prize...my health and self esteem! We can do this!

I started in February and just got approved on July 3. Next doctor's visit on July 25. I hope to have an early August surgery date. We all wait... But, it seems to be worth it at the end.

It upsets me that some people have such fast resolution, and schedule surgery only 7 months from their first doctor visit; while others (like me) get strung along for 11, 12, even 13 months. It feels unjust and unfair, so we're frustrated.

I would have LOVED to have moved through the process that quickly- I would have been sleeved March 1st instead of having to wait until August 1st.
