Hello,

I was wondering the same thing too! I actually called to get the whole process started only last week but it seems to be moving pretty fast for me (I think). I talked at length with 2 surgery coordinators who explained that I would have to start with my PCP to get a referral to see them first. I called my PCP and she fit me right in the very next day. I do have to go to an orientation first, but that just happens to be the third Tuesday of every month, which is TODAY so they fit me in as well.

In 2010 I was diagnosed with a rare cancer and since then, I have had over 6 surgeries, almost an entire year of chemo and various complications. I also have sleep apena, degenerative disc disease, sciatica, damaged liver (thank you chemo), bone metasis, as well as being obese with a BMI of over 45. (I have gained over 70 pounds in under two years thanks to constant surgeries, medications that make me gain like crazy, being completely unable to exercise, etc.) Anyway, I called my insurance company and they have everything (literally everything) documented. They told me the surgery would absolutely be covered. This will literally help me save my life.

My fingers are crossed for you that it happens quickly for you too.

I hope it's smooth sailing. I hate nausea more than anything. And so far it's sounding like no one can get anything down on week two with the Protein. I'm doing a lot of praying. :)

Nausea was a big issue when I was in the hospital. I woke up in recovery screaming about the nausea and the my abdomen hurt. Guess anesthesia didn't sit too well with me. The first couple days are definetley the hardest. It gets easier. I don't feel the need to eat like I did last week. Just looking forward to the mushies :) drinking as much Fluid as I can and Protein Shakes should start tomorrow after doctors appt :)

How many days has it been for you now? We discussed the "head hunger" that I'll have to deal with...coming face to face with whatever you used food for in the past and having to deal with it rather than eating. Stress, disappointment, etc.

Guess it's like overcoming smoking, alcohol, etc. I quit those about 15 years ago. I remember how that was.

9 days now :)

I used the smoke as well and it was the hardest thing to do. I would honestly kind of compare it to the head hunger. And I had a huge headache for two days from caffeine withdrawal.

I've had those before, they're nasty. I'm trying to stay away from that now. I have some pretty bad headaches anyway. I guess I'll just have to call on all my strengths and my better angels to get through the next month. I'm sure I'll be chatting on here quite a bit after surgery. :)

9 days and 25 lbs. is a pretty good incentive! Holy cow! I have a high school reunion to go to 6 1/2 weeks after surgery and I'm just believing now that I'll be fine to fly to it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
