Mona Patti,

I can also attest to the Glasgows. They and their office staff are just fabulous. Good luck to you.

Hey every one!

I am from the western side of the state, in the Berkshires to be exact. I am just starting out my lap band journey. I went to the information seminar on 10/02/07. I have my consult with the surgeon on 11/13/07. I am very nervous about everything mostly because of my age. I have done tons and tons of research on the lap band as well as checking out the forums here and on yahoo answers. i would like to hear from anyone who is young and getting the lapband. But i will be happy with any lapband buddies:);):)

Hi I had surgery at the Faulkner on Oct. and had Dr. Mun.

I highly recommend him!

Also Faulkner has all private rooms which is nice.

Very good experience.

Best of luck and maybe I will meet you at the support groups Phyllis runs once a month.

Hi All, Just got banded on 10/30/07. Feeling pretty good but sore and trying to figure out what normal will be with my band! I had my surgery at BIMC with Dr. Daniel Jones. Things went very well and I am back to work on Monday. Looking forward to some support groups where do I find out about them?

This may have been asked already, so I'm sorry if this is a repeat.

I had my surgery on Aug 9th 2007, (Glasgow & Glasgow) and had my first fill of 1 c.c. on Oct. 12th.

My next appt. is on Nov. 14th.

So far I have not lost any more weight. Is this normal? Shouldn't I have lost a few lbs.? I don't know if I asked my Dr., if he would do another fill so soon. Do they have a schedule, they keep to?

At night I seem to be more hungry, during the day, I'm fine. The only time I seem to notice a restriction, is if I don't chew well.

Hey Glasgow girls !

I had mine done in Oct of 06. I am doing o.k, not as well as I had hoped but still hanging in there. I saw Adam today. He is by far, the best doctor I have ever encountered.

I would love to meet you at all at a support group meeting possibly? I haven't been in a long time for scheduling reasons but really would like to.

I have Dr. Adam, and he says to call if the restriction is not right, and he'll probably give you a fill if you are not losing. I'd say to call their office.

Hi:

I'll be there on the 20th of November. I'm Sue. I couldn't tell your name from your LBT name. Anyway, nice to meet you. I was banded 7/26. So far it's been going well. I hope to get another fill on 11/21, he wouldn't fill me on 10/20. I think the Glasgow's are great, especially Adam. Arthur is a bit reserved, but very nice too. The office staff is great too.

I haven't updated my ticker yet, but my loss was 81# this morning. Yeah! I'm one pound away from halfway there. I have a total goal of losing 164 pounds.

Hope to meet you there in a couple of weeks.

Does an experienced bander like you have any advice for someone who's been banded only three + months?

Take care.

Sue

I had my surgery on Oct 4th, 07, I lost alot at first, nothing in a few weeks, probably need to have my first fill and then I will have restriction, because right now I eat what ever and am hungry alot. Right now though, in the last few days, my port has been bothering me, It gets like stuck under my rib cage depending on which way I am sitting or lying. But today with different moves, the port area actually hurts. I brought up the discomfort to my Nurse saying that the port like clunks around when I roll in bed and such, she said that it was normal because it had to develop adhesions, that was about a week and a half ago. Has anyone had any problems with the port (Pain or discomfort?)

Also, check out YouTube, type in LapBand surgery and you will get an array of video's that you can see.

Janet

Banded 10/4/07

Lost about 20 pounds from before and after.

Dr. Brams, Lahey in Bulington Mass

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to. And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed. I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
