Has anyone ever heard whether or not the VSG can be tightened up if over the years it has stretched? I don't mean a revision with a different kind of surgery, I mean just a VSG rejuvenation, say if a few years have passed and your stomach can now hold 10 oz when post op it held only 3.

five day pouch test.....I'm not sure how much it can tighten depending on how much it stretched but I do the pouch test every few months to maintain that level of restriction I like.....as I type I'm on day four :)

This is the first I have heard of a five day pouch test. What is it? I am 2 1/2 weeks post op, so I don't need it now, but like the sound of it for the future.

It is completely normal for you're sleeve to hold 8-10oz after 1year. This doesn't mean it is stretched it means it is fully healed and has reache it's max capacity.

I was told by my surgeon I would be about 10 oz after about a year.

The reason it was 3oz early on is because it was inflamed & irritated.

But the short answer is,Yes, you can shrink a 10oz sleeve, not because it has been stretched, but because the stomach will shrink or expand according to how big it needs to be to accommodate your eating habits. If you portion controlled yourself to 3oz every 3hrs your stomach would adjust over time to accomidate that. But really, that's not healthy long term. You need concentrate on eating healthy & getting all you're nutrients from your food.

Yes thank you I am aware of the need to eat healthfully etc etc etc. My question was whether or not anybody has heard of ppl basically getting re-sleeved. I guess from the dearth of responses, the answer is no.

Globetrotter, I have heard of some people getting a revision, but not really a routine rejuvenation. Most of the revisions were from people who stretched their sleeve by overeating everyday and gained a lot of weight back.

I don't know if I would want to go through surgery again lol

my doctor told me that the sleeve can be resleeved and he has done it. In the event it's stretched it can be resleeved however you can never stretch it out to it's normal size again....does this answer you? Also, he performs sleeve on people who have regained with the gastric bypass....

When i was sleeved by Dr Kelly, there was another woman there getting resleeved. She had another 30 pounds to lose and wasn't happy with her restriction anymore. Once was enough for me!!

Thank you for all the info, I am still working my sleeve and still have faith in it - I'm sure many of us have that fear no matter how unreasonable, that we might gain everything back and then some, so it is reassuring to hear that were my wonderful new healthful routines to somehow start failing me, there is backup.

Well, they didn't fail me, I failed them.

I went through terrible life events and for the past year just stopped every good healthy thing which resulted in a 25 pound gain.

I am now doing a reset, eating like a post-op (solids) but not doing this pouch test thing. Returning to Protein shakes, zero additional carbs, etc. and low cal (700 or less). Whether it's genuine or not, I have seen a drop every day for the three days I've been doing this. I have 60 lbs to go till goal.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
