Alvarez Or Aceves...help Me Decide

Hi folks,

I am in the infant stages of planning out how I will get my WLS. I will be self pay, getting it done in Mexico because my insurance completely excludes it...So my questions are:

Alvarez or Aceves?

Have any of you financed your WLS and ran into any issues when having your surgery in Mexico?

Should I be worried about walking up post/ op with one of my kidneys missing and sold on the black market…LOL

Any wisdom you can provide would be appreciated!

Gracias!

I've just had it on June 25th so I'm a week out and I've lost about 4 pounds. Total though from my liquid diet is 19 pounds. I haven't weighed myself today and I'm trying to hold out until Saturday because I don't want to discourage myself with weighing everyday like I normally do LOL! No complications at all. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Hey, that sounds great! Let us know how things are going! Thanks for the encouraging words!

The cost is 8700 if you're having the sleeve. 1000 deposit and the balance due when you arrive. My surgeon's self pay price is 14,000.

I was quoted $9200 for the surgery...Does anyone know if they base it on your BMI?

I'm no quite sure, but I do know at the time that I called, his office was offering a discounted price.

With Dr. Alvarez if you are a higher BMI, they charge $500.00 more. That is what is stated on the website under packages.

I went to Dr Alvarez and I went alone. You have nothing to worry about. You're in goods hands.

It has been crazy here, heat wise, so far this summer. It won't phase me a bit, I am sure!
