I just got home from walking around Walmart with my mom. Tge walking didnt help the pain but getting out and in public helped ease it. I do have liquid Loritab. Ive been taking it since Ive been home everyday. After I have the drain removed can I change doctors?

Not sure if I can or if another dr will take someone elses problem. After he takes the drain out I hope I can give him a piece of my mind. This is Dr Bruce Jones from Jonesboro Ar. I will definatly make his name known on this site.

I'm so sorry to hear this -- both that you are having so much pain and that your doctor was so insensitive. Praying for you that your pain goes away and that your doctor takes out the drain asap. It's strange how different doctors have such differing opinions about drains. I didn't have one either and have healed really well. Hang in there!

There are several bariatric surgeons that specialize in "fixing" other doctor's mess-ups. You might want to call around tomorrow and see if someone else will take you on. I'm also floored that you still have the drain - mine was out before I left the hospital, too. But, mostly, I can't believe his attitude about pain. My surgeon told me "don't be a hero - I don't want you to hurt" when he first saw me post-op and was worried I wasn't using my pain pump enough!

Oh, and Texarkolina: Run. This isn't right or normal at all. Find another surgeon ASAP.

My drain was out before I left the hospital also...I wasn't sure why some people went home with them...by day 2 there was a significant decrease of output to the drain...if it isn't draining much you shouldn't have it in because your body will start attacking it because it's a foreign body...your doctor is definitely rude because if it just a drain causing your pain why don't they just take it out? Instead of being a completely insensitive jerk he should have just listened...I am sorry this happened...keep your head up though because it definitely gets better! Hugs to you!

Oh no, So sorry you're in that much pain! I have my surgery on July 10th. I will go home with a drain and have it for two weeks! I'm in SC. I have heard from almost everyone that it is painful! Anywhere from uncomfortable, to VERY painful! Getting a little nervous!!!

Looking ahead, just go to ER. Not worth waiting. When they diagnosed my abscess I offered to send a picture, and they simply said get to the ER. Pain like you are describing just does not seem normal, seriously.....

My surgeon did not use adrain during my surgery, but oh what pain I experienced despite the pain meds. no one told me that one of the incisions would near belly button, which drains off and on; however, no infection has set in. My major pain occurred during getting in and out of bed dail, which meant I took naps sitting up occasionaly until I began to heal. I do hoping you are beginning to feel better because you will as timt passes.

I truly despise doctors with no bedside manners. I would have a few choice words with him if I were you. My docs have always been great about regulating pain. If I needed meds, they would give them to me. While I didn't have a drain, I know that I wasn't in any pain (thanks to meds) after surgery. Call the bastard back and let him know exactly how much pain you're in and remind him that you're the one paying his bills.

I had the drain removed today. He said he thought it was on a nerve. Tonight Im still having pain above where the drain was and pain still in my back directly behind where the drain was. I layed on the couch for 30 min with a heating pad on it. That eases it but when the heat cools down the pain comes back. I start walking more tomorrow. I hope that will help. Also I go to a support group tomorrow night. Going to ask around then. Thank you for asking.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
