Why Am I Not Losing Weight?

Recommended Posts

I am 4 weeks post op and I too have stalled. I have actually hidden my scale at this point, so that it doesn't discourage me. From what I have read, the stall is normal. Just focus on getting all of your Protein and fluids in. It will start again.

Well I weighed this morrning and I show a loss of 2 lbs so maybe I am going to start losing again :) I should hide my scale to. I have started to check every other day and may start once a week instead of every day. I checked today because I have a DR. appointment and I know they will weigh me so wanted to know ahead of time what to expect lol

I lost 15 pounds the first month, then nothing since. In two weeks I've lost nothing, and it is really difficult to accept. This is not a quick fix, that I know, but since starting this journey I began exercising I eat nothing more than two or three bites at each meal, a HUGE change from before the surgery, and NOTHING. Not even a tiny bit! I have a scale that uses a decimal point so it should show even the slightest weight loss, but nope, it hasn't moved in two weeks. 15 pounds in six weeks, not great by any means. Will I be the one this didn't work for?

@ I had my surgery on January 22nd and have been eating soft foods...and loving it. It seemed as if I was losing 1 lb a day after the surgery, but now I am at a stall for a week. I am freaking out a bit, but I have been looking at other posts (I'm on the January Sleevers forum a lot) and this is common! People seem to stall at one point. I think it is because I am not eating enough Protein and exercising enough. You would think with such low calorie counts, one would lose, right? I am frustrated myself, but I will try to force myself to go downstairs into my gym and lift some weights and do a little cardio. Just keep at it. You will be okay!

Slow and steady wins the race. See you sleeve as a long term tool..... not a quick fix. This takes time, work, really analyzing what you are eating and the type of exercise you are doing. If you feel like you are obsessing, stop weighing daily! I can say this because I had a 4 week plateau. You aren't creaping up in weight, so relax. Give it time. You body might just be balancing things out. You will get to your goal.

I am 4 days post op. Am tolerating liquids well, getting in Protein and other liquids. Am a little sore but otherwise am feeling good. Down 2 pounds. Trying not to compare myself to

Others. No nausea, which i am grateful for. Not hungry, no cravings . Popsicles really have helped.

Hope everyone is doing good.

This forum has really made me feel better. I had my surgery on July 21 and lost like 11lbs then 3days ago I gained a pound and have held it there. I was freaking out but I see others have had the same thing so I feel much relief. I realized 1st quit weighing everyday, I need to up my calories from 400 a day to about 600 a day and I am only getting about 40g of Protein so I need to increase that. I just started the gym yesterday to get 30mins of treadmill so I will keep doing that and stop stressing. Does this sound about right? Thank you so much everyone for your post they really help.

I also lost slowly and have stayed that way. I'm 4 months out and have lost 44lbs. I eat very little and go to the gym 5 days a week. It's very frustrating but I'm starting to accept the fact that it will come off eventually and the surgery was not magic

I was told to up my calories to 800 to 1000 if working out at the gym. Your body needs nutrients

I found a direct correlation to the amount of weight I lose to the amount of calories I consume compared to the amount of time I'm on my feet. For some reason, it doesn't have to be intense exercise - but being on my feet helps me through my stalls. On a given day, I try to be doing something where I'm standing at least 3 hours (including exercise).

Then again, what works for me, may not work for you - good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
