Feeling Unlike Myself-4 Days Post-Op

Recommended Posts

This was my first bout of anesthesia. I feel thirsty even though I am drinking s much as possible. I still have some lingering gas and I am walking as much as I can. My problem that is causing me anxiety is how weak I feel. I still feel queasy, weak, dizzy and out of it.

Should I be worried or is this normal? It's really making me anxious!

I will be posted in a few weeks, so perhaps someone who has gone through this already will respond to your question. I have seen posts fro several people, however, who indicated that it took a few weeks for them to feel "normal" again. It probably is partly the result of undergoing major surgery and having a major reduction in your intake of calories and nutrients.

Try walking and getting fluids in. The weakness is normal I started feeling better after the Gatorade 02. That made the dIzziness go away.

Surgery is a major stress on the body. I haven't done this yet, but I have been through major surgery, and it is tough. Make sure you are getting your fluids, and don't hesitate to call your dr. if you are concerned. That's what he/she is there for.

The anxiety is normal. If you have faith in a god, just surrender to him. Meditate, pray, read etc. Keep your mind preocupied. I uses to suck on ice, popsicles and sugar free candy. I will pray for you.

Angela,

Make sure you're not overdoing it. It's ok to walk, but moms tend to find things to do around the house when they're supposed to be relaxing. Walk, sip, rest. Anesthesia takes a huge toll on your body, regardless of the type of surgery, so make sure you're still taking it easy. ;-)

I second what the others said. I'm only 12 days out but its amazing the difference I feel from when I was 4 days out. The most important thing is to get your fluids. You don't wanna get dehydrated. The weakness and gas are normal.

That is great! I'm 12 days out and lost 14 on preop and 13 since surgery. The weight falling off so easily right now is so fun!

Yay for Amy kicking the dreaded fags....my doc said quitting was harder than giving up heroin (hopefully he didn't say that from personal experience...lol). It took me a good couple of months to feel "myself" again....without vague discomforts and fatigue (and vagueness). Now I feel like a completely refreshed and new version of my old self with a bucketload more energy. It wasn't an easy road, but it was definitely one worth taking. Congratulations.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
