Hey All!

I will be getting my band removed and sleeved on July 16th. I have only had my band for 10 months. I met with doc today and he wants me to take 6 weeks off work. I had only thought I needed 2. What was I thinking! Lol

I am a nurse on a labor and delivery floor. What did you all do? How many weeks off?

For desk jobs, my doctor starts out at 3 weeks and gives more if you need it.

I took 4 weeks, and I have a pretty physical job. If your job requires you to be able to lift anything you might want to take more than 2 weeks. I couldn't have lifted anything or been on my feet for a significant amount of time until about 3.5 weeks out.

I'll found out my doctors recommendations today but really only planning a week give or take a day or two out. I can't afford to be out any longer than that.

I'm an ER nurse and I took off two weeks. The first week was bearable, but the second week I was fine. Still no lifting, but work was fine week 3. Learning to listen to your body and getting into a routine was the hardest. But six weeks is a long time. Good Luck!!!!

Is anybody using STD? I looked in the hand book and where I work if you have been here 1 to 3 years you get 2 weeks at 100% pay after you take 1 week off with pto. Lots more week at 65% pay. I have not checked with HR or anythingto see if elective surgury is exempt or anything, but I sorta think it would be covered so not sure why you would not be able to afford taking more than that. Has anybody used STD?

I did when I originally got my lapband. I also plan to when I am revised to sleeve in a couple of weeks. I'm sure that it is based on whatever requirements your job has. It can't hurt to try.

Well I had my medical leave forms filled out for 6 weeks off. I am getting my band out and getting sleeved on July 16tht . I usually don't take much time off with things but I think I am going to take the time to heal and get into my routine.

I'm off for 3 weeks but if I don't drastically improve by my appt on Thursday, I might ask for another week off. I ride a desk but am up and down a lot. I have a really busy and somewhat stressful job. I figured I'd be back by the 18th. Ummm yeah, not going to happen!

Also a L&D nurse and my doc recomended 4 weeks off. I'm going to take the time. We have a extended sick leave bank and I should have enough hours accumulated to take the time off. Looking forward to hearing your success story!

We have the same kind of extended illness bank thing. When is your surgery?

Oh girl you are only taking a week off? Make susre you take the time you need to heal. I am in the same boat as far as getting my band out. My office said if I were going into the surgery for the sleeve with no band they recommend 4 weeks but doing a conversion from the band to the sleeve they recommend 6 weeks because of scar tissue and the surgery being more involved.

I'm thinking after doing alot of reading here that 1 week isn't going to cut it, but honestly the most I could do is 1.5 with some lighter days the 2nd week. I ride a desk when i'm not out doing sales calls and I have a pretty awesome boss/and staff that is behind me on this. There is never going to be a "good time" to take off x number of days let alone weeks. I work for a Hotel.

I will of course listen to my body if something isn't right of if i'm pushing to much I will back off and put me first.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
