Not The Best Post Op Week

Recommended Posts

Well had surgery on 6/6 and released from hospital on 6/8. I have blurry vision and started running fever last night. Went to dr this morning because I can't get anything down due to nausea. He sent me back to hospital for fluids. I am dehydrated and have a UTI. Yuck. I have to go back to hospital 2 times a week for 3 weeks for Fluid. Hope this gets better soon!!!!!

I'm so sorry! I had complications in my first week as well. It gets better, just hang in there. I know how it feels, it's har enough , let alone having more things compound the situation. To be honest, my fist two weeks were hell. But after everything was corrected and I got back on track with recovery it was 10 times better. I will send you my prayers. Take care and keep us posted.

Sending prayers your way. Hang in there. I am six weeks post-op and the first 4 weeks were horrible for me. I was put in the hospital 2 times one in which I stayed for 8 days. I actually had to go back into surgery because I could not hold down even a sip of Water without puking my guts up. I actually had a piece of scar tissue inside my stomach that was causing a small blockage. They removed it and I have improved everyday since then. Everyone kept telling me to hang in there it would get better and it does. I am actually able to eat some food now and hold down fluids.

Go and get your fluids it will make you feel so much better. It will get better. I promise you it will get better.

Please keep us posted on your progress.

My prayers are with you. My doc sent me home with 4 Scopolamine Patches for nausea that I change every few days. It's helping me with nausea. I hope you start feeling better soon.

Please realize there are a lot of us that are having complications, I've had a fever, I pulled a muscle in my stomach, I have muscle spasms in my back and the worst gas ever. I thought I was going to be a trooper, and I feel like a party pooper. Eventually it will work out though.

Thanks for all the words of encouragment. I know it will get better I just have to hang in there. I see people on here that go back to work a week out and I feel like a wimp. I guess we all heal at different stages. I have the patch on but it is not working so well. As they this to shall pass.

Kfitch, seriously, I have said the same thing you said. I feel like a wimp. Actually the skin around my drain is infected and the gas I keep getting is overwhelming, I cough in my sleep and strain. The pain is bad, I have gotten depressed and I honestly thought I was a very strong person. I've gone through c-sections, hysterectomy, gallbladder out, obviously my complications have set me back a bit, and I know that one day, hopefully soon I'll be feeling better. It just isn't today. My thoughts are with you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
