I had already gained back quite a bit of weight when I quit smoking... after being banded. I have pretty much leveled out... and even though I would like to be back down at my lowest weight, I am very happy that I was finally able to quit without relapsing. You may want to ask your doctor about Wellbutrin... or utilize the nicotine patches. Quit... you'll be happy that you did. :(

Funny this thread should come along! I am on day 1 of not smoking.... I have gone all day without, it's 3pm here and it's just now starting to bother me.... BAD!

Hang in there DrewsLou... It gets worse before it gets better but it DOES get better! When you feel the urge... take a deep breath... go for a walk... brush your teeth... drink a big glass of water... anything that will distract you from the craving.

You can do it!

Hi Roswell,

I quit two years after being banded and gained 15 pounds in 6 months. I so wish that I had quit before being banded, but better late than never. I spoked for 24 years.....!!!!! I have bee ciggie free for about 15 months now.

Babs in TX

334/180 ish

-150 ish

I quit when I was sick, I had a sinus infection and all smokers know your really sick when you dont even want a cig...

Anyhow after 5 days of being sick and not smoking I just never bought anymore.

I still have coupons sent to me I had signed up @ the camel lounge @ Ozzfest lol they send me matches etc.

Its been a month~ when I get stressed (kids-hubby-money) I think man I wish I had a smoke, but what I find I need more is some time alone, cause if I really wanted the smokes I would just go buy them noones gonna stop me..

I did stop 6 months before my band and started again off and on after banding. (sounds weird but I'm a summer smoker-when I'm with family and friends that smoke AND were drinking is when I light up)

Nana~

Did you guys smoke when you had surgery? Did it effect you when waking up from the surgery? If you did quit, how long did you wait till you started again?

I QUIT 5 DAYS BEFORE SURGERY, I'M ON DAY 13, IT'S GETTING BETTER, ONE DAY AT A TIME. I DO USE THE patch

I'VE SMOKED SINCE I WAS 17, CRAP 30 YEARS ALMOST NOW.

I WAS A LIGHT SMOKER SO THAT'S HELPED

I'M STILL A SMOKER, ALWAYS WILL BE, I JUST HAVEN'T HAD A SMOKE IN 13 DAYS LOL :clap2:

I want to quit so bad but I am scared of gaining weight back. I wish I had quit too before but didn't so here I am. I had promised myself that when I reach 190 I will quit, I have 5 more lbs to go, then it's bye bye nicotine. And please no lbs!!!!!!!
