Does anyone know or have experience with dumping with causes other than sugar? I am 8 months out I know I had one because of accidentally eating yougurt with 27g of sugar. But I have had 3 since and don't know the cause. This has me in a panic that it will happen when I am away from home. I don't know if it is something that I ate earlier in the day or just before it happens, when I suddenly feel very ill, have to move my bowels and can't, get clammy, heart racing etc. I feel stuck, not able to move out of it. I know most people don't have this with the sleeve and may even be one of the reasons they choes the sleeve, but this has me scared! As always appreciate any help/suggestions.

The only "dumping" sleeve patients have is consuming too much food or liquid too fast in one sitting. You prolly ate too much or drank too much and didn't notice till you threw up.

I absolutely had a dumping incident. I am 5 weeks out. I treated myself to a spa day and sipped on Water for the 4 hours that I was there. In the midst of the day, I ate 1 dried date. About 3 hours after I ate the date, I was clammy, cramping, sweaty, heart racing etc. for me, it was the sugar washed through the stomach too quickly by sipping the water. I ate a date the next day without drinking and was fine.

Yes, we can definitely dump. It's caused from too much sugar or too much fat getting into our systems too fast. Things don't stay inside us long, because our tummies are so tiny.

It happened to me a lot in the beginning. One time I met my cousin for lunch, and I had a few bites of cheese cake. I was so sick, I had to find a couch at the mall and lay down at the mall.

It rarely happens to me anymore.

Dumping is from foods rich in carbs what is considered in the high glycemic index like dried dates, white rice, bread, potatoes, Pasta, cold Cereal like cherrios, corn flakes and rice krispies, candy, ice cream, etc (I got this from a paper my nut. gave me). Anything with high carbs. Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone for your help. I am relieved to know that you have also had dumping, as I needed your advice, but sorry you had to experience it.

I have felt the sweats, and nausea when I took a bite of my husbands DQ burger...I do not want to do that again..it had to have been the high fat or the carbs...either way, not a great feeling. But I'm ok to have experienced that cuz now I know not to do it again..learned my lesson real quick! Lol BTW, the ill feeling was gone within 15 min or so.

keepin it real ;)

I ate some cheesesteak meat, and I was a mess the rest of the day. Nausea, poops, sweaty, I couldn't move off my couch. Thats the only time I've experienced dumping and it had to be from the fattiness of the meat. Just the thought of having it again makes me feel sick to my stomach.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
