  • Ice cream is a myth. It doesn't exist. Neither do cookies. I saw this show called Ice Cream Hunters International.....but you know....they have never proven its existence. Might as well forget about

Just remember, one day you will be able to eat anything you want, in smaller portions. There is not one thing I can't eat.

Can u eat ice cream and Cookies and stuff? I know i know...why cant i be strongerbut today i was eating a oreo shake (im trying give sweets a good farewell send off before my sleeve in august) and i was thinking "omg for THE REST OF MY LIFE I WILL NEVER HAVE MY FAVORITE FOODS EVERRRRRRRR!!!!" and then i thought "well whats the purpose of this sleeve?! And which would you rather have: healthy, beautiful life orrrrr an expanded sleeve, slow weight loss progress and $7000 down the drain (mexico- Dr. Ortiz)?"

You can see Im having a real internal conflict! Hahaha. But yes, i just wanted to see if you love sweets too because I read everywhere that sleeved people can never have ice cream again bc it slows down the weight loss.

I wish I could not eat ice cream and cookies!!

When I was first sleeved, Ice cream gave me horrible diarhea. Horrible. We are talking don't move away from the bathroom for hours. It doesn't do that anymore. I could probably eat an entire bag of Oreos.

You will learn the difference between slider foods, and foods that fill you up. Eating with the sleeve is a learning experience. It's best to learn good eating habits in the beginning, because later on down the road, it's easy to pick old habits back up.

I will never regret having this done. It has changed my life more than I can ever say.

I was sleeved on May 17. Today was a bad day. When I went out I smelled every smell from every fast food' date=' pizzaria, bbq spot. I have to pick a new route to drive home. Tonight I discovered Diet Peach Snapple. It was like a GodSend. I hope it's decaf. I took one too many sips and ugh! Now I'm a little queasy.

Hang in there my friend.[/quote']

Awe we share sleeve dates! I had a rough afternoon yesterday with head hunger. Amazing how much we ate out of just habit. I'm learning to eat to live instead of living to eat. Need a hobby!

I was sleeved 5/16 and I feel you on the feeling miserable... idk, maybe its that Im dehydrated. Im ok with the head hunger, Im not really having food cravings. Im just like UGH and get so frustrated because I cant find a liquid that agrees with my new taste palet (then again, the only things I really drank before were diet pepsi, Vitamin Water xxx which is loaded with sugar, and tonssssssssss of orange and pineapple/pineappleorange juice). By the end of the day, between that, not being able to snuggle and do the same things like play fight and what not with my fiance, and my hiatal hernia surgery making everything kick back up a few times before going down Im like :( on the verge of crying. The only thing that seems to help is taking night walks with him and I cant even do that because of all this stinkin rain we're having all week!

I just keep thinking, it will pass.. all of this is only temporary. I know in a year and a half when Im at my wedding looking skinny and gorgeous eating whatever I want in small samples, or even next summer when I put my tush in a BIkini, not a TANKini, or heck, even a bathing suit period for the first time in years, I wont regret this one bit!

Yes, you can, but VERY LITTLE!!! :)

I was sleeved Monday and came home today. A little nervous about not getting dehydrated as water gives me dry heaves and I used to be a big water drinker. I am only taking two tiny sips at a time....like 1/3 of the teaspoon but water makes me nauseous. I am going to try some flavored water and maybe some decaf tea. I tried the water at room temp thinking that best but maybe some people tolerate hot or cold better. Nausea has been hard on me because I didn't even get morning sick with my three pregnancies and only thew up once in the last 40 years so not something I"m used to dealing with. It is no fun. I guess I just need to experiment. Thanks for any advice. I am home and off the IV now so I need to get some liquids in.

Just drink what you can! I could only drink about 8oz for the first 2 days and I was fine... I did feel dehydrated at first but you should be fine if

You just keep building it up! I was nauseas also! It was hell but I'm 9 days out and running completely normal! Like 98% normal so just do the best you can it passes very quickly! Rest up too! 17lbs down so far... It's sooo worth it! You got this!!!

I am feel at the same way. All mi social activity are realted with food. Somentime I think thay maybe I need help for a Psicologist, because my addiction to food is biger than what i Though. My social life was around food all my life and now the change is really drastic. The pain in my tummy .. my GSV was april 13, almost 30 pound lost, but mi food conection still there and when I look at my in the mirror I feel really happy, but when i go out and I can't eat how i used to I feel really blue too.

Sometime I am wondering if I was ready for? because is a confort that i miss a lot.

I just hope that it is normal and will be part of the past in few weeks or maybe months.

I feel the EXACT same way! I'm like wow I really had/have a serious food addiction!! I feel like I'm

Going through withdrawls or something... And same here all my social gatherings are a lot around food and it sucks so bad! I just sit at home now and go to work.. Praying it gets better also

Yep. I Hope fell better mentally and Emocional

My program requires two visits with a psychologist before they will even consider giving you the surgery. And, she is available to me now if I need her. I went through similar issues....panic about permanent thing I did to myself, really missing food, especially when I smell it or see it, concern that I will never be able to eat the things I enjoy. It will all pass! I have grown more comfortable with the fact my lifestyle is going to change...after all, isn't that what we all really want? NOT to be controlled by food, to get healthy, feel better about ourselves, look better, increase our logevity, mobility, etc??? You can find foods that you like, even in the soft phase, and will be able to have small amounts of all foods, eventually. What I have found is that "my eyes are bigger than my stomach" for sure! my favorite desert is banana cream pie so my son bought me one for mothers day. I had two bites, it seemed SOOO syrupy sweet, I had another small bite or two....then I passed the plate to my hsuband. I had a few more bites of the pie...that was all I wanted!! I was so happy that I didn't feel the need to eat the whole pie or a huge piece. If you concentrate on getting in your Protein (better nails than before!, and avoiding hair loss), then you probably won't be thinking about what you are NOT eating.

For people who can't keep anything down, including Water, that does not sound right and the doctor needs to be involved. You may even need I.V.s....my doctor said there have been a few paitents like that, because you don't want to get dehydrated. It will pass as your stomach heals.

Missing food is the worst part of gastric surgery. I am 10-1/2 months out and have still not conquered that. Sometimes I wish I could just sit down and eat myself into nirvana on a huge plate of mac and cheese. Those days are over. You just have to talk to yourself all the time. It's a mind over matter kind of thing, and I think it will take me years to get over this craving for the tste of A LOT OF FOOD. I still go out to eat, and I roder what I want. I eat a couple of bites of this and a couple of bites of that, and I am done. That is your life now. Get used to it. All I can tell you is that it gets easier with time, after you accept that you can no longer gorge yourself. You will eventually eat whatever you want, but just a few bites. That's why you had the surgery, right? And, that inability to eat a lot at one time is the only thing that will keep you from gaining it back. Oh, yeah. I went from a size 2X to a size XS. I have lost 92 pounds and am 9 pounds away from goal. It's a journey. It's not easy. But, the very hardest thing is getting your mind around the fact that you can no longer eat a lot of food. It's something you have to work on every day. I am still working on it.

Well I'm so glad it worked for you! Yes it will definitely be a life long process but yes this is why I had the surgery! So I could physically not eat anymore! I'm almost 2 weeks post op and at this point I'm nervous to gain weight! I'm so anxious to loose it now.... I just want to

Lose it already! People say I've lost weight but idk.. But excited to see what happens! I find myself getting so frustrated that I can't eat anything that I just don't eat at all!!!! Bc I'm so annoyed so I just say screw it! Bc its not

Like I feel hungry anyway-___-

I have lost 20 lbs but today went to a outdoor event and I had leave the heat n empty stomach I threw up nothing . I to haven't been able to get my water in or mess or protein . Once we can get food in we will get through it good luck

And, remember, you don't have to get to goal to start looking a lot better. Every time you lose 10-15 pounds, you will go down a size. I took pictures of myself every time I lost 15 pounds. It gave me little bite-size goals. I posted them on FB and my friends got so they were rooting me on bc they wanted to see the next pic. lol You can do it. Once you get through the mush phase and can eat what you want, believe me, it gets a lot easier. Until I got there, I was asking myself every day what in the world I had gotten myself into. Try to drink water so you don't get dehydrated, and try to get in the protein so you don't lose your hair. A great protein drink that you can mix in 4 ounces of water that actually tastes good is Nectar by Syntrax. The caribbean cooler flavor tastes like a pina colada. Not bad, and you get 24 grams of protein in 4 ounces, which is all your stomach will be able to hold. I mix the vanilla bean flavor in 4 ounces of coffee in the morning. It is good. First I mix the powder in a cup with about 3 tsp of sugar-free Hazelnut coffee mate. It is in the dairy section in liquid form, and has a green band around the top. After you mix that up, then add the coffee. If you add the coffee first, it doesn't turn out right for some reason. That is what I usually have as my breakfast even now. Another really good liquid that I virtually lived on was the Lipton chicken soup that comes in a box, and you boil it in some water. I would just eat the liquid part, and it is yummy. And, of course, Crystal Light. I'm sure your doctor has told you about that.
