I remember days I'd spend 7 and 8 dollars and not be satisfied

I'm not going to fuss at either one of you. I've eaten a McD's cheeseburger (no bun) and, on a different day, a taco bell taco with the shell. Of the two, I prefer the taco. :) I drive a lot for my job and sometimes fast food seems like the only option. I've noticed that most fast food isn't appealing to me anymore. I literally find myself standing in front of the menu trying to figure out how to get a decent Protein out of one of their foods. I know grilled chicken and salads are lots of folks' go to, but some of those "grilled chicken" salads have as many calories as a big mac! I'm not willing to invest 800 calories to eat some chicken and bland lettuce.

Wendy's chili is usually my go to if I must do fast food. I prefer to keep a Protein Bar in my purse and have that if I'm out at mealtime than to eat at almost any other fast food place, though.

I like the refried Beans cup at Taco Bell. Think that would be good on mushies? I'll be starting those in a few days. Or maybe it's too high in fat?

The taco bell refried Beans are not high in calories - like 120 for a serving but it only has about 7 g of Protein. The bad thing is the sodium - 610 mg. but they definitely are good! There is 20 g of carbs as well.

I love the money I save. And I love going to t-bell for 1 single taco! And that's it! People I go with get 3-6 tacos or worse. Never going back :-)

You can remove a lot of the sodium by asking for no sauce on Taco Bell's refried Beans. Then ask for a packet of sauce and put your own on there if you like it. Those beans were my first mushy food! Yummmmmmmm

The thing I like about my sleeve is that I can eat anything I want.... as a fat person I didn't eat a lot of food that was BAD for me.. I just ate a LOT of food...

now... I eat anything I want..... I am 7 months out.. and I eat a bite or two of anything I want.. but that is usually all I want of BAD FOR YOU STUFF... I am totally satisfied with just a bite...

THANK you to my sleeve!!

I was the same way. I ate really healthy all my life. No candy, chips, pizza or junk foods. I never ate more than my plate of food. Everytime I would go eat out I always had to bring food home. Before my surgery I was totally boggled as to why I couldnt lose weight and that had an emotional effect on me. But in return since I really didnt eat to harsh my stomach from point A "esphogas" to point B "large intestines" isnt really that long so since I got sleeved my new stomach isnt big at all. Since being sleeved I can see all to well as portion size was my problem. I didnt realize that one should only eat so very little.

Instead of plate they should only make saucers because ultimately thats what everyone should have as a plate 4-5 times a day.

Now heres my new problem. I goto lots of car shows since I have a show car. This past weekend I took home a 1st place trophy "yay" lol. Well at pretty much all of them they sell beer, hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, hot links you know the typical fairground foods. I choose the hamburger but I get them to use double cheese and no sauces. I let the hamburger cool down and I pick the bread off and discard. You know how when cheese cools down it binds to a layer of bread so when I peel it off I have a tiny layer of bread. I eat a 1/4 at 11ish, a 1/4 at 2is and a little on the way home. I have never finished one yet. So hamburgers arent all that bad.

Now being at 13 weeks out I am scared to eat a Taco shell. I know that I can eat a taco salad shell because I tried that to see if the grease would irritate me but that shell is way softer than a corn shell of a taco.

Unsweet tea is my new favorite too. I drink about 2-3 20 oz containers ( or mediums) a day lol. It goes down so smooth. I wish Water went down like tea does for me.

Thanks Wendy's! 1 slice of cheese and 2 bites of baked sweet potato (hold the topping) makes for a nice lunch under $2. Pretty sweet, since most fast foods don't have much for us no-meat eaters :)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
