27Ibs Loss After 4 Whole Months...feeling Horrible!

Recommended Posts

It seems a majority of people are saying that carbon and gum will stretch out the sleeve .... I specifically asked my surgeon about those and he told me if I can handle carbon then I can drink it. He told me that our stomachs are like rubber bands and if we eat too much we will throw up. Does your surgeons tell u specifically to stay away from these things?

Yes, I was told specifically to stay away from those two things. I was told that the carbonation would stretch out my tummy. As for gum, I was told to stay away because it causes gas. For what it's worth tho- I was also told to stay away from straws too. I can drink from a straw with no gas pains. Gum on the other hand causes discomfort. As for carbonation- I stay away from it.

I really doubt you could stretch your stomach! At 4+ months it is healed by now. Look at some pictures of what you stomach is now. A by-pass pouch can stretch a sleeve is entirely different. I drink carbonated diet sodas every now and then but it has been 2+ years. I do chew sugar-free gum. Your saliva is alkaline so gum helps with acidity in your stomach. I still take prilosec (forgot to take it yesterday and I knew it!). Slider foods are slider food eat dense Protein first.

My surgeon also said by two months your stomach is completely healed. He said things like drinking by straws can't really hurt you but can cause gas. I drink from a straw all the time because its easier for me to take in smaller amounts. Even things like alcohol my doc said they are empty calories and in excess can do damage but a glass of wine isn't going to kill you.

I drink 2-3 carbonated waters a day and made goal in less than 9 months. Didn't stretch my sleeve. My surgeon says that's bull and so do I.

Honestly I know exactly how you feel. I would log on and see other people who were sleeved around the same time as me and they had lost twice as much. I wanted to get frustrated but my sleeve wouldn't allow me to stop. The best thing I've done for myself is joining the Y because while I don't see my scale moving fast my clothes are getting to big and my body is getting toned from exercising and it's made me feel so much better!!!

I have to keep telling myself this. I am having serious issues with this stall. Thought I would be further by now. This was a good post to help me think this through.

This was good for ne too...I guess I need to pull the positive out of it ippose to looking at the fact the scale is not moving...I have resistance training 3x a week...so from that perspective maybe thats why the scale is not moving...idk!!!! Gonna keep working hard and try maintaining a positive perspective....

I would think that most Dr's and NUT say no carbonation because most of it is consumed in the form of soda and they don't want you drinking calories. I am going to go with you need to focus on your Protein intake levels I know if I am having a stall or weight the same for over a week than I need to focus a little more on my protein intake. If you are doing well with your protein I have found to get me out of a stall I need to focus on calories and try to eat a little more I have noticed if I "cheat" a little Like I had a mini cupcake a week ago and the scale haven't moved in a little over a week I list like 4 lbs overnight after eating that cupcake. Bodies are a strange thing at times sometimes they need more protein and sometimes more calories.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
