This was good for ne too...I guess I need to pull the positive out of it ippose to looking at the fact the scale is not moving...I have resistance training 3x a week...so from that perspective maybe thats why the scale is not moving...idk!!!! Gonna keep working hard and try maintaining a positive perspective....

I would think that most Dr's and NUT say no carbonation because most of it is consumed in the form of soda and they don't want you drinking calories. I am going to go with you need to focus on your protein intake levels I know if I am having a stall or weight the same for over a week than I need to focus a little more on my protein intake. If you are doing well with your protein I have found to get me out of a stall I need to focus on calories and try to eat a little more I have noticed if I "cheat" a little Like I had a mini cupcake a week ago and the scale haven't moved in a little over a week I list like 4 lbs overnight after eating that cupcake. Bodies are a strange thing at times sometimes they need more protein and sometimes more calories.

out of curiosity this sparkling ice.. is that carbonated? cuz you really wanna stay away from carbonation. it can stretch your sleeve out. but honestly, 27 lbs is still really good, so don't be discouraged. I would try changing your workouts.. or if you are walking on a treadmill try walking outside.. you need variety in your workouts or your body will start getting used to the workout and it will eventually stop helping you.. you need to do whats called muscle confusion.. change your work out every week or at least every other week and you will get better results.

Just keep following your plan and STAY OFF the scale! Try logging your food on a free site (I use sparkspeople) it will help you make choices so you get enough protein. DO NOT compare to others. We each have our own journey. Stay in touch! This board made all the difference for me.

Honestly I know exactly how you feel. I would log on and see other people who were sleeved around the same time as me and they had lost twice as much. I wanted to get frustrated but my sleeve wouldn't allow me to stop. The best thing I've done for myself is joining the Y because while I don't see my scale moving fast my clothes are getting to big and my body is getting toned from exercising and it's made me feel so much better!!!

Thanks everyone...I will certainly use some of the best practices given, such as smaller and more frequeant meals...increasing my excercise time...and loosing the comparison mindset.

My pounds loss isn't great either i was sleeved on 2-29-12 but i have lost a ton of inches. My doc says because i don't have as much weight to lose I'm not going to lose as fast. My NUT has me eating 1/4 cup of food 5 times per day. My protein should be at 80 but I haven't mastered that yet. I'm also required to do 60 minutes of exercise 6 days per week. I started off walking but have since joined the YMCA. Now I have much better variety and love water exercises. My doc says if I'm not drenched in sweat at the end of a workout i didn't work hard enough. So maybe, you just need to change some things. Good luck just got off a three week stall so i understand. i also love to compare pictures don't let the scale discourage you

Kendall, Lots of things aren't fair, but the pre-op diet is because your surgeon wants you to have the best outcome possible. You need to follow his instructions as closely as you can so that you have the best chance of doing well during and after surgery.
I don't think a 1 time small cheat is going to hurt you too badly, but it should NOT become a habit. The diet is to do a few things, IMO. It's there to help shrink your liver, which reduces the chance of the surgeon harming it during surgery. It's also to get you and your body used to the diet you will have to follow post-op. I think it's also a way for us to detox from all the crap we've put in our bodies over the year AND a way for us to prove to the doctor that we CAN follow instructions.
Most surgeons have limited availability for surgeries. Unless they are superman, they can only do 3-5 surgeries a day, and then, only a couple of days per week, so they have to limit themselves to doing surgery on people that they know will benefit from the surgery.
If we as patients can't manage to follow the diet pretty closely pre-op, how do the surgeons know that we will be compliant afterwards and manage to lose our weight?
Attitude is everything with this journey, IMO. It's not going to seem "fair" that your friends can eat and drink unlimited quantities of food while you have to do liquids, then mushies, then tiny amounts of food one you are healed. If you walk around thinking "It's not fair", then you will be doomed to being unhappy with your surgery. If, on the other hand, you keep thinking "I'm losing weight and becoming healthier. That's great!" you will be much happier with the results you're getting.
I wish you lots of luck with your journey! I know that you'll do great and rock your sleeve!
