Help Needed Please...

Recommended Posts

Ok this is the 2nd time I have tried to post this....UGH computers.

My cousin and her family lost everything last night in a house fire. They are all still numb and just don't know what to do. They have nothing but the clothes on thier backs and of course family. Thank goodness her mom lives in Monroe about 15 minutes from her. So she has a place to stay. I am tring to get things together and will be making trips out there to them everyday I have to.

Here are some clothes sizes that they are - if you are getting rid of any that might fit them please let me know and I will try and buy them from you.

Kristy (my cousin) 10-12

Ray (her husband) 32x32 or 34 and med shirts

Charlie (almost 3) 4 - 5

Misourie (13) 14 slim or a 1 Juniors

Russell (her 16 or 17 yr oldstep son) 30x32 and a med shirt

They have no toys, no school supplies nothing.

There are 2 great things that have happened which are just amazing to me. Last night while looking for hot spots they found the bunny that they had gotten at Easter ALIVE. The cage was melted, the roof collapsed and that bunny is doing well. Then today while we were going going through what we could we found 2 Bibles in a drawer that had not been burnt, they weren't wet or anything. Tell me someone wasn't watching out for them. (Becuase none of them were home, if they were someone would have been hurt because it started upstairs where thier bedrooms are.)

So any help would be great appreciated even if all you can do is a say a little prayer for them. They need everything.

Thanks guys in advance!!!!

Awww this is so sad!

Why dont you put together a list of things they need and we can all pick some things from the list that we will send to them? That way they wont end up with 10 backpacks and no pants! I'd be more than happy to help in any way I can.

Wow I am not sure I can come with a list but I will see what I can do. I didn't think people from outside NC would be helping. I just love this place!!!

They have 2 kids that need bookbags, clothes, Walmart or kmart gift cards would be good. I will be going back out there tomorrow to take them some more clothes and some toys that I have around here. I will see if she can sit down with me and make some sort of list....she is so confussed right now and isn't thinking straight.

Again Thanks to EVERYONE....if you want to send thing please let me know and I will pm you my address.

I love this place!!!!

Praise God they're OK! I don't have any clothes that would fit, but am ready to pitch in with cash, gift cards, or actual goods; whatever they're need/preference.

I agree that Walmart cards are a GREAT idea! I'd love to send something ... please drop me your address in a private message, and I'll send you something as soon as I can (I'm still getting my energy back from the band surgery, and not sure I can drive just yet :) ).

I think I have pm'ed everyone if not please let me know. Thanks again for your help and if I didn't pm you and you want my address please let me know. I am little crazy right now.

Wal-mart gift cards are perfect becuase there is one near the house and near her mom's where she is staying. Plus they have everything they might need. You all are the BEST!!!!

I am going to try and post a link for the pictures...I am not sure if it will work or not.

They have had it just over a year or two and this isn't the first problem they have had - the whole down stairs flooded with the hurricane's last year. They had over 4 - 5 feet of Water in the down stairs. So in some of the pictures you will see sheet rock they were just getting the down stairs repaired from everything that had happened. So you can only imagine how they feel right now.

Kim,

I am so sorry to hear about your cousin's home! I am also sorry that I am late getting involved in helping them, but we were out of town this weekend and I just read your post. Isn't God wonderful and amazing though by keeping them away from home and safe, saving the bunny, and by keeping the Bibles from getting ruined? I know that they have suffered a terrible loss and are going through a terrible time, but it could've been so much worse.

I have no clothes that would fit your cousin, but I sure wish I could fit into size 10 or 12! Unfortunately Jimmy hasn't seen 32 or 34 inch waist pants in many, many years either. But, I may have some clothes the youngest could wear, if she still needs some for him. I can also get gift cards. Please let me know what they still need if you can, and I'll try to get some stuff together. If there is anything else you can think of, please let me know!

Oh my goodness, Kim. I just looked at the pictures of the house. What a traumatic experience this must be for them. There is so much in a home that can never be replaced. Pictures, gifts, things you've collected, a favorite coffee cup or pan, the perfect pillow that it took you years to find, nicknacks, letters.. goodness, how overwhelming this must be for them.

My heart goes out to them and I pray they are blessed beyond belief throughout their recovery.

I just can't stress how overwhelmed I am with you all. Thank you so much!!! I am going to everything that my bandster family sends me in a box or bag and on it write "From Kim's Banded Family from all over the US" You all just don't know how I am feeling right now.

Thank you all!!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
