9 Months Out And I've Lost Momentum

Recommended Posts

So I was 9 months out on 5/8/12. During that time I've gained self confidence and self respect and lost 92 pounds (and a great deal of my hair). I admit, I look like a totally different person now and I even enjoy going shopping. My issue? For the past 2 months I haven't lost any weight. I also haven't been trying that hard. I'm bored with "protein first" and "low carb". I still exercise almost daily but my eating habits are in the toilet. I still have at least 20 pounds to lose. So why have I just given up? If someone has some insight or opinions please share :)

Hey sleeve sister! 9 months seems like yesterday huh! I hear you on losing momentum - I am in that feeling sorry for myself stage - my friends doing weight watchers are losing more than I am at this point. I allow myself a day here and there where I eat what I want but try to still keep things out of the house. If it isn't here I won't eat it. I notice the carbs really affect me at this point, if I don't keep them super low I don't lose. So I do keep them low or try to at least 6 days a week or so. I bought myself a fitbit this week - really eye opening on how many calories I burn and how many I eat. I figured I was really undereating most days barely making 800 calories but I wasn't doing much exercise so I wasn't burning that many calories. So now I am trying to be more active and it freaks me out a bit at how much hungrier I am after exercising :/

Gosh can I so relate to this!! I lost 80 pounds in my first 6 months and 22 in the last 6 months. I hit my one year on May 3 and feel like these last 15-25 pounds are NEVER Going to come off!!!!! I have been playing with 2 pounds for at least a month or two! I am on program most days, but I do snack on sweets every now and then, good luck to you but also know u are not alone!! I just keep telling myself they will come off!!

sounds to me that you are in a 'good' place now... perhaps you've entered maintance mode without realising it? I love what you say about self respect and confidence... that is better than being at a certain weight - well, I think so anyway.

Why don't you just 'allow' yourself to stay where you are for, say another month or so, and then kick it up a gear to get rid of the last bit.

Enjoy your success that you have achieved in a short amount of time... I mean, 92lbs is a teenager!! Perhaps your body needs to gather itself?

I don't know... I just feel that you have done so well in a short amount of time.

Good luck to you what every you decided....

Actually, this hasn't been of any real help has it...lol!

Thanks for the replies everyone. Kristy- at least you only have those 15-25 to get off, right? I eat sweets every now and then too. I allow it :). Coops - I think you're right about the number on the scale, it's not the most important thing. I still want to lose at least another 10-15 pounds though. Not because I'm vain but because I'm still fat. Also, I miss the days when I could really see my hard work paying off quickly. I miss those pounds just dropping off. Like the other poster said, I'm going to kick up my exercise this summer. Thanks to everyone who replied. You all are understanding and encouraging :)

when all else fails go back to liguids for 2 weeks and then mushies and then work toward real food again. you have to reprogram yourselves sometimes. and also the only thing that can beat a fail is a try...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
