I am 12 days po and I need a drink. My husband is annoying and although I am not really a drinker... the low sugar skinny margarita in the cabinet is looking very tempting. How long did u wait to have a drink?

I don't know. I haven't had a specific time set to when I can have alcohol, but I'm about 6 weeks out and don't think I would try it yet. But then again, I'm a chicken LOL!

I wouldn't. Your new sleeve is very swollen and raw inside. That drink might make you hurt for days. Alcohol on a new wound burns like crazy, right? Imagine that inside you!

My doc said six months for alcohol. I waited 4 months.

I was instructed to wait a whole year...even if you can tolerate drinking earlier the calories may slow down your weight loss...

Discipline, discipline, discipline. I tried a glass of wine at four weeks post-op and I was sick for three days. Now is not a good time. Get a nice walk and meditations instead. Heal the inner you (and I mean that literally)!

I kno the feeling of temptation, but like others said find other ways to release frustration. My doctor told me 6 month, but I will be doing an entire year cause I don't want to hinder my weight loss. Unlike you I was a big drinker, I would have a bottle of wine by myself on one night, then some Baileys. When I would go out I'd at least have four drinks. So I'm telling you this not to judge but so you know that if I'm doing it you can too.

I would wait until 6 weeks. I drink a few beers a week now, and have since 3 months out. You will get there. You are healing now! Way too soon to pour alcohol on that fresh staple line.

Two weeks out and I had a great martini Saturday night. Well half a martini to be honest but no issues at all. My instructions say no alcohol while taking pain meds and those were done day one.

i waited till i was back on "solid" food...6-8 weeks post op, i talked to my doc about it first...their main concern was the empty calorie issue with alchohol...of course too early n i think there are ulcer cocerns as well...i would say wait as long as u can, then start slow...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
