I must say everyone who has updated their photos on this thread is looking fantastic. For newbies who have mot yet posted a photo, I only started putting one on when I had lost a fair amount of weight. iIt is a personal decision but it's great to see the changes over time.

It is a great feeling seeing the weight come down - I am so glad you are enjoying this exciting part of the journey! I am at goal and still think it is a dream - especially when I bought size 8 work trousers in SES - it is almost like an out of body experience! Not that I have ever had one of those before!

Hey Misty - I got on the veterans thread the other day - I have to admit that it was a bit of a downer actually. Just reading how hard everyone has to work to keep their weight off after 2 years onwards - even one lady had put back on 50% of her weight loss - she had her op 5 years ago! Being over a year out and still being careful about eating enough to keep my weight stable, I find it hard to get my head around - I can still only eat a max of a cup of food in 15 minutes on a good eating day in one sitting so can't imagine how I would put half the weight I have lost back on!

I am hoping that I am not deluding myself thinking that this will be the way it will always be - but I guess I must be! Here's hoping that my surgeon gave me the extra small model so I can never eat the quantities to put all my weight or even 50 % back on - inner fears coming out now!

Sue, I think maybe the people who put weight back on aren't paying attention. I think we have to always be careful and adjust if we gain a kilo or two, rather than let it turn into 5 or 10. I also think when you're at goal you don't get that weekly scale reward so you have to set other goals. Maybe fitness or life goals. I think it is good to be prepared rather than looking through rose coloured glasses. At least I hope so!

Hi All,

I have been AWOL for a bit, have been incredibly busy with work (avg a 13 hour day) and getting ready for my next and final surgery on the 23rd of August. I wanted to share some before shots. I will be having an extended Tummy Tuck and extended arm lift. Below are some very honest photos of my body as it is, even with my 80 yo look alike arms out :)

Body pre plastic surgery

Arms pre plastic surgery

My struggle since being in what I guess is maintenance is that even tho I wear a 12/14 I still see a larger person in the mirror, I can usually dress to hide the lumps and bumps from the world but I am still aware that they are there.

I am glad to see you are all recovering well and doing so well on your journeys, everyone is looking freaking amazing.

All the best for your op Aussiegirl. I knew it was coming up! You will be taking it up another level after this and I am sure you will be so happy with the results.

One of the sleevers on one of the veterans threads has posted her op pictures - they are graphic but the results are truly amazing - even only a few days after the op!

Once you have recovered, lets organise another Sydneysiders get together. Hopefully the weather will be warming up and we can sit in the sun somewhere - All welcome!

Hey Aussiegirl!!

Wow that has come around quick!! Can't wait to hear how things went!! And to see those after shots!!

I know what you mean about hiding the bits you don't like- I feel the same way, particularly my arms and tummy. I am hoping that this last bit of weight off will help but I am not confident about it at all...

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
