Right - ribs, cauliflower pizza and chia seeds for dinner!

Hope everyone is going well - I am sitting in my surgeons office waiting to see him and see the dietitian - not quite sure how I am going to explains my diet of chocolate, shortbreads and fudge over Christmas! Hoping the weight is good but I am sure they are going to be on my case about the exercise!

Good luck!

Don't eat that all at once :P

Alright what are they?? Lol

A pretty versatile nutritious seed. I've made this choc chia pudding for tonight. I'll let you know what it's like. I substituted the maple Syrup with sugar free maple and some stevia.

Ive been a bit quiet of late but still keeping updated on everyones awesome progress.

Well I finally got my referral to a surgeon in the mail today and before I could even read it the surgeons office was calling me to make an appointment for tomorrow omg.. As much as I would love to go tomorrow I am fighting off a ear & throat infection so had to make it for 2 weeks time. And here I was thinking it would take forever for an appointment. Anyone have any reviews on Dr Ian Michell at the Epworth in Melbourne? Ive googled and found a few good reports but was hoping someone on here may have some feedback.

Ugh so annoyed. I used to really love cheese and crackers. It was my go to thing when i couldn't eat anything else. Now, since my taste buds have changed so much since the surgery, the cheese is too strong/ salty. And it's just plain old cheddar. i even tried 'plastic" cheese and it was no good either. Sigh. On the upside, fruit has never tasted so good lol :) Just not a lot of Protein in fruit :(

Mini.mee, lol...I am sure Dean will prepare enough for all of us, heck one rack of ribs would feed the whole members of this thread lol....

Novo, sorry I havent heard of him, so cant help. Good luck with the appointment. I have found it hasnt taken too long to get in with the bariatric surgeons. I was surprise how fast it all went once I actually made my mind up to do it.

You got me excited about ribs, so I did some beef ribs tonight. Same rub and sauce but I baste it with beer instead of apple juice. And you're right, one rack would do all of us, with take home leftovers.

I love it.

Will let you know what the chia pudding is like...... in about 3 hours!

I'm inspired dean. Making the chia pudding tomorrow. Even if it tastes rubbish, the recipe can be tweaked and refined.

I shot gun the burnt gnarly bits at the end of the ribs.

The beef ribs were good, even though I could only eat about 1/4 of a rib!

I rate the chia pudding. The fibre in it is unbelievable. Next time I'm going to leave the chocolate out and use coconut milk and some shredded coconut and have it with some mango slices, before the end of the season.

Alright what are they?? Lol

Remember Chia Pets back in the day?The seeds that the plant is grown from have been shown to have great health benefit. They sell Chia drinks at Wholefoods that have chia seeds floating in them...

I did, I made pea and ham, chicken and veg and apple Peanut Butter.

All puréed of course.

I was sleeved 27November and still have some left in freezer. Bought some cheap ice trays from the $2 shop and froze them like that, then put them in zip lock bags.

When I could handle something thicker, I bought baby rice Cereal and mixed in with it. Nothing like homemade soup, beats store bought hands down

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
