Attention ! Australian Sleevers

Recommended Posts

Ok so I managed to get some old reports from my gp re the lung clots . Almost 100% positive what's showing up in this current scan is scarring from an old one as the positioning reads the same, so hopefully when I fax these to hospital tomorrow we will still have the green light for surgery on Thursday. Excited, nervous ... all those things. (I've had 3 x 11 pound babies with no pain relief ... How bad can this be .... Right ?) Anyway 12 days on preop diet so far and I am down 7kgs. Roll on Thursday !

Hi kalimomof3' date='

Sorry, i forget that not everyone knows what a vlogger is! It's from YouTube, one of the video bloggers (vlogger) that I follow regularly. She posted a video about how to make this, step by step. Keep in mind that she's in the US so her oven temp is in Farenheit, you'll need to convert the temps (I think it's about 232C).

I am experimenting with the recipe today to see if I can use it for more than just pizza or breadsticks. Will post any positive results.

Cheers![/quote']

Thanks I am in the US until October so I can make it here!I have to use a cheat sheet to convert to Celsius when I am in Australia lol.

Bit of a culture shock too!

I'd love to go to Texas. I'm a bit of a BBQ Guru, you should taste my brisket B)

BTW I had my lunch with the guy from the lift. He is a nice guy....not sure if anything comes next but I could be interested..we did say we shouold do it again but who knows...

Dean's No.1 Pork Rib Rub

1/2 Cup Brown Sugar

1/4 Cup Smokey Paprika

1 Tbsp Black Pepper

1 Tbsp Salt

1 Tbsp Chili powder

1 Tbsp Garlic powder

1 Tbsp Onion Powder

2 Tbsp Ground Cumin

The night before trim your ribs remembering to remove the membrane on the underside. Rub your ribs with this rub the night before your BBQ and stick in the fridge covered.

Dean's No.1 BBQ Sauce

2 Cups Tomato Sauce

1/2 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar

1/2 Cup of Molasses

1/2 Tsp Salt

1/2 Tsp All Spice

1 Tsp Chili Powder

1 Tsp Smokey Paprika

1/2 Tsp Favourite Hot Sauce

1/2 Cup Brown Sugar

1 Tsp Cinnamon

1 Tsp Cumin

1/2 Tsp Black Pepper

Slowly bring to boil and simmer for 30 minutes until thickens.

Put the ribs on your smoker / BBQ at between 90 & 100 degrees C. I like to use lump charcoal because it's natural with some hickory or some peach wood for smoke. Put them on meat side up, bone side down.

Cook them for 3 hours. When I first put them on I spray / baste them with apple juice with some apple cider vinegar and a bit of the rub mixed in. An el cheapo spray bottle is good for this.

After 3 hours cover the ribs in foil. Give them a good spray before you wrap them.

Cook for a further 2 hours covered. Don't open them. Remember "Lookin's not cookin".

Unwrap and put back on the grill uncovered. Baste them with some of the warm BBQ sauce a few time during this last hour to build up a sticky crust.

And - Ta daa! Best ribs ever.

Deano

Thoughts to all those affected by the wild weather and floods in the east. It's just so shocking to watch the developments.

Been reading about chia seeds. Read an article last night in front of the TV and said to my wife "I might give them a try". Opened the fridge this morning and there's a big bag in there.

I love my wife.

Right - ribs, cauliflower pizza and chia seeds for dinner!

Hope everyone is going well - I am sitting in my surgeons office waiting to see him and see the dietitian - not quite sure how I am going to explains my diet of chocolate, shortbreads and fudge over Christmas! Hoping the weight is good but I am sure they are going to be on my case about the exercise!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
