How Does A Blood Clot Looks Like?

Recommended Posts

You mean, the symptoms? The classic symptoms are pain and swelling in ONE leg, it may also change color. The symptoms once it breaks off and goes to your lungs is sudden chest pain and difficulty breathing, it's usually very dramatic.

Do you mean what you can see from the outside?

I've only had superficial ones (SVT - superficial vein thrombophlebitis). At first the area is red and hot. Gradually I could see a red line forming under the skin (this was the vein, since mine were superficial). Very painful to touch/pressure of any kind.

My mother has had multiple DVT (deep vein thrombosis). Her entire leg swelled and got red & hot.

I'll see if I can find some representative pics...

The one in my leg was the worst charlie horse EVER. If you suspect a blood clot, do NOT sit here on the computer. Get to the ER NOW NOW NOW. A blood clot can kill you in minutes if it releases smaller clots into your heart and/or lungs. Go to the hospital. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.

if you have to question it I would go just to have it checked out. Dont wait becuase if it is a clot you will be in much more trouble.

Green swollen vein sounds like a varicose vein. :) They can pop up quickly, and be quite painful. I had two popup within a few days when I was pregnant.

Here's what my mom's leg looked like with her DVT. (NOT her actual leg, it's a borrowed pic):

Here's an idea what my SVT looks like. Again, not me nor my pic. See the circled area on the arm, how you can see a red streak? That's exactly what I had with all my SVT (I was getting them from a BCP).

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
