Can Eat Bad Food....uh Oh

Recommended Posts

So up until recently, if I put anything sugary, fatty, fried, pretty much anything on the "bad" list of food, my stomach just absolutely rejected it. Now that I am 3 months out, there are some things that it doesn't mind anymore, like a little bit of cake for bday parties, ice cream, etc. Although I don't dare eat to much of it. And I am definitely not eating anywhere near what I used to. I probably consume between 900-1200 calories a day. On the bday's, probably more around 1400-1500, but I didn't tally it up.

I'm just nervous.....I know you all understand. There was some comfort in knowing that my stomach wouldn't let me eat it.....now its up to me. Which I have much more will power now than I used to, but still...that fear of past dieting failure lingers. We had left over ice cream cake in our freezer and I had one piece on Monday....and then I immediately threw it out because I knew if I didn't, it would start calling out my name right around 9pm every night. So it just went in the garbage. But I did find myself doing the kitchen hunt last night around that time...I don't think I ate enough at dinner. I ended up having 3/4 of a greek yogurt cup, which is overall, probably better than a spoonful of sugar (ie ice cream cake.)

Anyway, just nervous.....

Oh I get it! As I type this there are Bagels & cream cheese, at least two types of Cookies, a box of doughnuts and a pound cake about 6 feet from my office door. Office birthday... I brought two quiche so there's at least some form of Protein out there! I've limited myself to a couple little "wings" off an old fashioned doughnut but it's so easy for me to think to myself that I've already trashed the day, why not eat this or that? The thing I have to never, ever buy is cheeze-its. I love them, they go down so easily and I'll snack on them all day if I don't watch myself.

I'm still getting pretty sick if I do too much sugar. I think I actually get dumping if I eat too much sugar and eat it on an empty stomach. I hope that lasts because it keeps me from eating it most of the time! Also, sweets leave a bad after taste in my mouth these days. That's a nice deterrent too so far!

Wowwww. have you guys watched the expose on toxicity of sugar on 60 minutes? After watching the expose my DH and self looked at each other and decided to cut the sugar out of our diet. Sugar is a craving like Cocaine and when we have sugar, our blood gets thicker and sticks to our arteries and causes blockages. This is just short. I really recommend that if you have the time your google 60 minutes and watch it. I don't need these cravings so I choose to give sugar up. Easier said than done! ;)

I'm trying to do the same thing. Cutting down on eating out, no junk food, and dessert no more than 2x a week - and make it worth it. E.g. tomorrow is our anniversary, so we're going out to a nice steakhouse and I'll definitely have some dessert there, because I know it'll be good. But the Cadbury mini eggs hidden in my dishwasher are off limits indefinitely! It's not really a weight thing for me, although I wouldn't mind if my butt leaned out a bit, but I just decided I was not eating well, even though I was not gaining weight. Now, if only my fiance was in the same boat. Yesterday, I asked him to have a chicken stromboli for lunch instead of pizza because it would've saved like 200 calories, and then for dinner, I let him have whatever he wanted - meat ravioli in creamy cheese sauce AND bread - but given how much he bitched and moaned, you would've thought I had him eating lettuce and vinegar all day!

I told him he can eat whatever he wants, just make sure to take out a good life insurance policy so I get a nice chunk of change when he has a heart attack at 45!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
