Nerves Are Starting To Kick In

Recommended Posts

The very best of luck to you all!

It's all good. Just remember that whilst this surgery is scary if we don't do this for our health we risk an even scarier future by leaving ourselves open to all sorts of major health problems in the not too distant future. That and it'll be great being able to wear high-heeled shoes without the circulation stopping in my toes because of the weight the balls of my feet are having to support!! :D

My date is not until April 26 so I'll be watching with great interest and joy as you shrink day by day...

So true!! Yes, the benefits definately outweigh the risks. I am excited!! I'm excited to start fitting into my clothes that are stored in my closet that range in all different sizes. The lowest I have is size 12, so I will be shoppping when I need a smaller size ;) . Nothing from last spring fits me since it's all too tight, so now is a perfect time to get it done. At least I won't have to start shopping for one size bigger, like I would have to do if I wasn't going to do this surgery. So excited!!

Thanks for all your support!!

I know what you mean, it'll be good to free up the closet space as we get rid of those larger sizes one and for all!!

I'm going on a family holiday to the island of Tenerife next week and come back to immediately start my pre-op diet. This will be the last holiday that I wear my sarong to the edge of the pool, stand pretending to look for my children in the pool when actually I'm waiting until the ladder is free so that I can quickly drop to sarong and get into the Water without anyone noticing. Next holiday I will be striding confidently to the poolside in my small swimming costume (my body has NEVER seen a bikini, even when I was a US 6/8 (I'm 5' 2") )! - too much pale Scottish skin on show is not a good look). Might even get a spray tan...

You're funny!! Have a great holiday and enjoy yourself. I have once worn a bikini in my life, that's when I was 14 and I didn't eat . . . and by that I mean, the only thing I ate in a day was one snack, that's it. That was the only time I was ever thin. Even now if or I should say when, I get to goal, my body won't look good in a bikini after having 2 kids. I will probably still want to wear the skirtini. My husband said something funny to me, he said, "when you loose your weight can you please wear skinny jeans?" I just laughed because I cannot imagine myself wearing skinny jeans

Courtney - I think we were on the same eating plan as 14 year olds! I was thin and all I ate was a single hoho for lunch and small bag of jelly Beans for dinner. No wonder I'm here now, huh?!

Yay for no more pretending to not exist so people don't notice us. And let's all think skin tightening thoughts so we look awesome in those swimsuits!

Isn't this interesting. At 14 all I ate was 3 dry Cream Crackers all day and toast/jam (jelly) for dinner. Hope somebody somewhere is taking note of this pattern. ( Linkybo, what's a "Hoho"? I've heard my daughter use the word as a euphemism for part of her anatomy! Clearly not the same thing in the US as it is here in Scotland:) )

At least none of our kids will hopefully follow our pattern. They will see us eating good food, in small amounts and looking slim and healthy :)

A hoho is a small chocolate cake with cream in the middle.

Wow, it must be a pattern for 14 years old. I remember going into high school and I felt like I transformed from middle school. Then, since I basically starved myself, I started eating again and the weight just started to pack on. I really think that was the only time I was at a good weight. Well, we certainly knew what happened to me after that  .

One of the reasons that helped making my decision with the surgery, was my daughter, she's 8. My yoyo dieting has effected her, so I need to take control of my weight issues.

I am getting scared too. Wondering if it is going to be worth it? Will hunger beat me? But... I don't have any clothes that fit. So I am with you atkinsoncl! I can overcome this weight issue but it won't be easy.

I know!! I'm spending all this money on new clothes that I need bigger. Something is not right with that picture! I started going through my clothes today and found so many smaller sizes with tags on. So I think I'm set for a while. We can do it!!

Stay positive, and I'll try to practice what I preach! Just imagine next year this time...how much healthier we will be! As my dad always told me in sports "what the mind conceives the body achieves!".

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
