Okay, so is it just me that gets seriously constipated at least once a week?? Sorry if this is TMI, but its like I can feel all the 'stuff' backed up in my stomach/intensines...whatever organ that is. I think its maybe because I'm not drinking enough, but I'm getting as much as I can down. Any other remedies people know of? I've tried Colace and it doesn't do anything and Dulcolax....yeah...like pain much?? Won't be using that again. Does prune juice really work??

Oh and does anyone else find it hard to get food down when constipated? Its like my body is just saying "no more!!! Get rid of some first!!"

I have had a similar problem. This week it was very bad - I was in intense pain from it. I went to the pharmacy and the pharmicist told me to take magnesiam citrate - it is a clear, bubbly liquid and it works in 45 mins - 6 hours. She said not to take the whole bottle right at first just in case it caused me to go more than I wanted to (if you get my drift!). I took 1/2 the bottle before bed the other night and it did work the next morning.

If you can get the prune juice down...all the more power to you. I have tried mirilax, colace, lactulose (RX), senocot, Fiber pills and powders...but nothing worked. Then I did some research and found that since we focus so much on Protein and fluids that we don't get enough magnesium in our diets. (It comes from dark leafy green vegetables.) So I spoke with my doctor and I started taking a magnesium supplement of 500 mg per day. After the first day or two, the system was working normally again! Never thought I would be that excited about it, but it is a relief to not have to think about when the last time it was that I went! :)

Hope it helps!

I drank some apple juice with just a tad bit of Water in it...the sugars in the juice freed everything up and got it moving...last couple of days I have gone at least once! You are right though...when I was backed up it was super hard to get more food down!!

Glycerin suppositories work like no other, and usually within just a few minutes!

When I had my band flaxseed oil was the best thing I found. Next to that, just a bit of juice or sugar Water, some Karo, whatever. If those didn't work, Miralax was the only OTC medication that did me any good.

As part of my pre-op stuff (my sleeve surgery is Tue) I have to take Calcium citrate Monday morning. Never used it before, but I've been warned not to be more than 5 minutes from a toilet for up to 8 hours after taking it.

I was having the same problem. I still have a Protein Shake once a day. I started putting some benefiber powder in each shake and I have been not having any problem since that time.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
