Good morning everyone. I'm praying my surgeon doesn't keep me in the hospital! I will see him @10. I actually feel better, but I still need prayers. After reading some of the posts, I realized that I have not lost as much weight @5 weeks that some have lost @4. I will remain hopeful and pray that my lab is good because I have lost so I know it's working.

I'm amazed @my weight! On Wednesday I weighed 230, yesterday when I got to the hospital 237. How do you gain 7lbs in one day and didn't eat nor drink anything different?

FannyF - when you weigh yourself at home, is it first thing in the morning with an empty stomach and hardly any clothes? Then you go to the doctor and you've eaten, you've had lots to drink and unfortunately - you have to be dressed! Clothes weigh a lot. :)

Mmorral - can you pass on the info from your NUT? The calories per day and calories burned per week are great info to have. The nutritional aspect is definitely a weak point in my surgeon's care. All of my nutritional classes are group classes and are very general. I'd love more details on some good things to be eating (and maybe not eating!) so I can get in those 80 grams of Protein a day.

What is everyone eating that is working?

To linkybo you are so right. I was so anxious and a little disappointed, I guess I didn't think. At home I weigh myself with no clothes and an empty stomach. Thanks for bringing me back to reality. I couldn't sleep last night worrying about my weight! LOL

I drink two Protein Shakes @25 grams each, salmon fillet @23 grams, or grilled chicken breast @24 grams, make up the rest eating tuna or something low in Protein just to get me to 80 grams.

any one sleeved around the 24th I was ,and I have to know should i be worried. The first 12 days post op 20 pounds feel off. After that nothing. I have heard of the 3 week stall but i am now past 4 weeks and have gain 2lbs back. Am i doing something wrong ? I was given the go on solid foods this week and of course thats ok, I am averaging 400 calories a day and 50 grams of Protein. I wasnt able to walk in week 3 due to a abcess and being in alot of pain when standing, anyone have any ideas to kick start the weight loss back up ? I really thought by now i would be down at least 30lbs.

I was sleeved on 4/24. I lost 13 lbs my first week and I have been on a stale for 3 weeks. I had my one month follow-up and I am eating soft foods. I had my husband hide my scale. The numbers were too frustrating. I do get excited every time I get dressed because my clothes fit better. So for now the devil (my scale) is in hiding and I am going to stick to measuring once a month and my clothes. My next weigh-in will be at the end of July. I hope this helps with the dumb head games and ugly relationship I have with my scale. Thanks to those of you that have put up your posts about stalls. It helps to confirm that I am on the right track. Have a great Memorial Day weekend everyone!

I'm a May Sleever but have been following you guys thread to prepare me. I'm currently 3 weeks out and I am in a stall as well. I exercise daily at least 45 minutes, drink my liquids and get my Protein in. I have been guilty of slider foods ~ Cheetos cause they go down easy. Just want to encourage those in the stall. I truly believe its our bodies adapting to the changes. Im a partial payer and I spent a LOT so this surgery HAS TO WORK FOR ME!!

Linkybo, My NUT gave me the following tips

1. She says to work towards 2000 calories burned in 2 months and when I see her in July we will work towards 3000

2. Even though I am still in the meat only stage - lean ground beef, turkey, chicken stage; I can work in my veggies as a sauce to spice up my Proteins.

3. I should be around 800 calories daily. They are not worried so much about the calories as long as it doesn't go over 1200, but there are ways to give you more for your buck. She gave me a tip of dividing the protein per ounce and the calories per ounces. This way I can judge what will give me the best calories but the most protein. For example. 3 oz of shrimp was 100 calories but 21 grams of protein. So for every ounce it is 4.7 calories and 9 grams of protein for every ounce.

4. Count on a milk product like yogurt to have at least 12 - 14 grams of sugar and that is okay, I have to be careful with the added flavoring.

I hope that this is helpful. I thought she gave a lot of tips I could use. I was also told that I was eating too much at one time. I need to slow down and count on just 2 - 3 oz not try to get to 4 and I will train my new stomach to be satisfied with that instead of needing more after the honeymoon phase is over

Mmorral, let us know how Disneyland goes!

Disneyland was AWESOME!!! I got 3 hours of walking in because the park was so crowded due to Grad Night, but I didn't care.

I wasn't sure how the meal planning was going to go. I had Breakfast at home. I also took a few Snacks with me ( cottage cheese, light string cheese, crackers with Peanut Butter on them) I was so surprised how well they are at accommodating me. I had a chicken taco with no lettuce off the kid's menu. I asked for Beans instead of rice. I was barley able to get through the taco. I also found that in Tomorrow land I could have had a "power pack" which has yogurt, string cheese, and crackers. ( they had apples in it too but I would give that to my son).

My husband told me to go on Sunday if I would like. I might think about it to get more calories burned.

I hope that everyone else is have a great Memorial Day weekend.

I had not lost one single pound in the last 18 days...I thought I was doomed...that I had defeated my sleeve...woke up this morning, hopped on the scale, I was down ten pounds from yesterday...from yesterday...yes, I had to repeat that. It blew my mind...I started wondering if the scale had been stuck or something...anyway, I am ten pounds down in one day!!!! I knew I was losing, because my clothes were getting bigger, but the scale had not budged. I think it is weird how we lose weight anyway. And the weight I was stuck at was a weight I had not been below in five or six years. So I feel like when I get twenty more pounds down, it will stick again, because I have not been below that weight in 12 years. Here's to hoping the next twenty fall off like my size 22s.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
