I Came Out Of The Closet This Week With Another Friend.....

Recommended Posts

I'm really selective who I tell about this surgery, but I told one more friend....not sure how I feel about it. I posted some of my thoughts on my Sunday blog. Part of me wants to tell the world, but then part of me thinks I took the easy way out....especially when I know how hard it is to lose the traditional way.....and I think some people think this is cheating...???? Anyway, I'm happy to keep it to myself with only a few people knowing...

Either way, it's nice to be back in Hilo, Hawaii again.....tried on some clothes I hadn't seen in a year; and have posted a photo like you see on TV on my site...I had fun 'shopping!

Who cares what others think....some have never had to deal with being fat. Most could not handle it even for a day. I wish I would have done it sooner. (this on the waiting bench, but ready for the lose bench)

I think I've decided I'm going to be completely open about it. Part of me wants to go into the "it's none of your business" area, but I figure if I'm taking three weeks off from work for the surgery, and then I (hopefully) will drop a hundred pounds in six to nine months, I think it's going to be pretty obvious.

I'm still at the "none of your business" stage. Ppl know I'm having surgery, but don't really know what kind. My nutritionist and surgeon feel a big part of my issues are hormonal (as well as no functioning thyroid) as my eating habits in general are not bad. That said, the nutritionist said this procedure gives your hormones a "punch" and kind of resets them. I've gone with the explanation of a surgery that should help correct some of my hormonal issues that have contributed to other health issues I have. I'm giggling as I type that. I think I decided that if that's what I'm comfortable with, then that's what I'm going with till I feel differently. I, too, have gone back and forth with tell all/tell no one. You have a good point given your situation. Lol. Good luck to you!!!

I've always been very open about my surgery. I have a friend who had it done almost 4 yrs ago and thats how i found out about it and I am so thankful that she shared. I have one cousin who had the surgery in jan and a best friend that is having it done in april and both said it was because they saw my results. I love the new life so much and am so thankful for it that I just want to tell everyone.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
