Hello All! My is DeMarcos and I'm 23 yes old. I'm about a month away from my scheduled surgery date. I stubbled across this forum and was blown away by the amount of info and feed back I read from the members, so I decided I wanted to part of this!! I'm starting my pre-surgery diet tomorrow, I'm quiet nervous about it, mainly because I'm not sure at what to eat. I'm so lost right now. Keeping carbs at only 2 a day is what's posing the most trouble for me. I'm trying to come up with a set menu for myself so I can hit up the grocery store all at once and be ready!! Im looking for Breakfast ideas and lunch/dinner. I thought a breakfast protien smoothies would work best for me, but did some research on them and they had more carbs then I was allowed!! Any ideas from ya'll would be most helpful!! Thanks!!

Hi Demarcos, I'm new too but already on my pre-op diet. I use the chocolate Isopure. It's pricey but no carbs, no sugar 50 grams of Protein and it tastes good. I was having trouble still being hungry after I drank one but a friend suggested adding yogurt. I use the Kroger CarbMaster and that did the trick. I drink one for breakfast and one for lunch then a sensible low carb dinner. Probably not the most proper way, but I've lost 14 lbs in 2 weeks. I'm interested in knowing any others suggestions too. God bless!

Hey there!! thanks for the advice!! i tried looking for the Isopure but the only thing i could locate was Isopure Alpine Punch. i picked some up to try, i just dont think its going to give me a full feeling. Are you using a isopure powder? ? im having a bit of confusion reading lables. maybe you could clear it up for me! When it says 1g of carbs, it takes 15 grams, to equal 1 Carb. right??

You can find the Isopure at GNC. I use the chocolate powder and mix it myself. Not sure what you mean about the grams. The back of the package will give you the serving size and how many carbs, calories, Vitamins, etc are in each serving. Does that help?

DeMarcos, welcome aboard!

You will find lots of information here, I think it may be hard to encounter something that someone has experienced in our VSG journies on here.

Good luck with the pre-op diet, I was on an Opti-fast diet for 2 weeks before the surgery, I think out all the phases it was the hardest to get through, liquids, mushies etc seemed easy in comparison.

Keep positive and you will do great.

Hey, Thanks for the advice!! The Isopure is truly amazing, it taste great, i bought the vanilla one!! best one I've ever tried!! and your right, a bit on the pricey side. I found it at GNC and they had the big tubs of it for like 90.00.... a bit out of my price range, however they had the smaller package, so i grab one of those. im curious to try the apple melon and mango one!! i mixed mine with a Atkins ready shake, a wild berry, and throw 2 scoops of isopure and made a VERY high protien and DELICIOUS shake!! it keeps me very satisfied til my next meal.

thanks for the awesome advice!!

Well I am also on a pre-op low carb diet. For breakfast I'll usually have some sauteed mushrooms with 1 or 2 eggs. Some Snacks that I've been having is string cheese, pumpkin seeds. I did go to wendys and I has a chili. salad is good just make sure you get a light vinagrette dressing, and no croutons. I do drink the Atkins shakes they are pretty good, as a matter of fact my son has been drinking them all. For dinner just have meat and veggies.

Hey chitowngirl!!

sounds like your making excellent progress in your pre-op diet!! We're somewhat eating on the same pattern! I usually have my protien shake in the morning, usually last me til lunch without a mid morning snack. I eat string cheese too. lunch has been various items. Sometimes i dont even feel hunger... but i know i need to eat, strange!! Dinner is like my only solid meal. which constist of meat...mainly turkey or beef and veggies!! And lots of Crystal Light!! :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
