When I went for my 1 week check up the nurse explained I should be eating 800-1000 calories. I don't see any way this is possible I've been trying for the last couple days and I can only get up to about 600 calories.

I drink a Protein Shake in the morning that's 185 cal with lactose free milk. Then 4oz apple juice that's about 130. For lunch I have another Protein shake 100 cal. Then dinner I do refried Beans about 60 cal and another protein about 110 cal.

This whole daily calorie intake is 585 and I'm stuffed! Just with this im at 70+g protein pushing almost 60 g carbs. Sometimes I'll do sugar free Popsicle or Jello but that's only 15-30 calories. What else can I have that's low in sugar and carbs but has some calories. I'm extremely tired.

Thanx for any input.

Your surgery was this month? I agree, there's no way you can get many more calories than you are already at this point. Have you tried greek yogurt or soft-boiled eggs? Cottage cheese? Just as a side note, that apple juice is not doing much for you nutritionally. Grape would give you anti-oxidants and V-8 would give you Vitamin C and loads of potassium.

My NUT told me today 1200 calories and I am 5weeks out. I looked at her like she was crazy! I can only do around 500 calories tops!

I've been trying and trying and it seems impossible. I have found this peter pan natural Peanut Butter though, for 1 tblspn its 105 cal, 3g carbs, 2g sugar, 4g Protein. So not only are the carbs and sugar low but you get 4g of Protein and 105 calories. I've been adding a 1/2 teaspoon to my shakes in the morning and night. If you heat it in the microwave for like 20 seconds it comes out thin and its much easier to get down too!

Thanks I totally agree, I drank some V8 fusion peach mango today that is 100% fruit and veggies, and it was yummy too.

My doc gave me an "owners manual" with some recipes in it. There is one for "super milk pudding." It is a very high protein dessert or 'protein power up' as he calls it. It is one package of sugar free Jello pudding, and 16 oz. of 2% or skim evaporated milk. (NOT condensed sweetened). This packs a whollop of protein and give you a bit of extra calories, but I can only get 1/2 cup down. It says to use instant, but I like the SF cook and serve.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
